Peak cringe humour, samey shootey gameplay and a visual style that is distinctive but (in my opinion) heinously ugly - messy, muddy, crowded. An internet meme game from over a decade ago that does not hold up.

A kinda janky game with an identity crisis - is it survival horror or just survival? Fun for a bit of a laugh. Definitely recommended - but its not the height of gaming as an artform.

Soooo much fun in VR. A total fantasy fulfilled for a SW fan. The campaign, though short and sweet - is a real treat for the franchise fan. Featuring characters, locations and events that reference the series on film, TV and in legends. I've never played the game NOT in VR, I think a lot of the appeal for me was in immersing myself in the SW universe specifically in VR. When played in VR with even rudimentary flight stick hardware it offers a truly immersive SW experience. It runs well, looks well and has a nice succinct story which isn't overly overburdened with nerdgasm targeting references. I don't think I'd recommend this game for someone with a more casual relationship with Star Wars, playing on a flat screen using a standard controller. But I can't speak to that, I've got no experience being that person.

THIS IS NOT THE SEQUEL TO RESIDENT EVIL 2

The true sequel to Resident Evil 2 - that is, the direct sequel to Claire's story in RE2 - is the still as of yet unremade Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Why did Capcom choose to skip CV and remake RE4 after RE2 and RE3? I don't know. But they've left an important part of the overarching RE story and an important moment in the lives of both Claire and Chris inaccessible to remake players.

Is that enough to make me not recommend THIS game? I'm not sure. It definitely makes me angry. It was enough to get me not to play Resident Evil 4 Remake and it's enough for me to include this warning for potential buyers in my review which I will now reiterate:

THIS IS NOT THE SEQUEL TO RESIDENT EVIL 2.

This is a companion piece to RE2. Part prequel and part epilogue due to it's structure. It is undeserving of the name "Resident Evil 3," the name under which Code Veronica was developed. And the name most indicative of the role CV plays in the franchise.

Feels like playing co-op RE4. So much fun, has the classic strange RE dialogue mixed with the best take on the franchise' formula. A laugh from start to finish in the best way. Maybe the last hurrah for this style of RE game with the franchise now moving in different directions. Hard to believe this game runs on a handheld, excellent work from the devs.

Not the original hero shooter, but a juggernaut in the development of the genre. Unfortunately, its not dissimilar enough to Quake and its Arena shooter origins to really be compelling to me as a hero shooter. I prefer to play Overwatch.m - but that's not a game I'd recommend either. Perhaps then I'd recommend Deadlock, Valve's new class based game - drawing inspiration from more modern developments on the genre and heavily integrating MOBA characteristics like Overwatch and other more modern, more refined hero shooters. I consider it a successor to TF2. Valve's attempt at a modern class based shooter, a true competitor to Overwatch. Because TF2 ain't one.
