Well with l4d2 workshop mods what you have to after subscibing to the mod and launching l4d2 is sit on the main menu and let the mod download. then after that it should work properly. If it gives you further troubles you can go to this folder (*\Steam\SteamApps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons\workshop) and locate the mod VPK file with a picture next to it. then you can move that VPK file to (*\Steam\SteamApps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons) and you'll never have to worry about the workshop needing to sync or download anything before hand to have the mod activated.
