The Overwatch cancelled PVE mode except its good.

It is shocking how similar & right at home you will feel in Roboquest if you are familiar with Overwatch's gunplay & overall feel. If you like me now hate Blizzard this is a quality replacement to scratch that Overwatch itch & the mechanics are so well done it will make you wish Roboquest had PVP in it as well.

Roboquest is a very well done Roguelike/FPS hybrid that is always very hard to nail & this is one of the rare games to pull it off successfully. Be warned you will still encounter a lot of frustration & rage through your runs however. Get ready for many hair pulling deaths where you die at full health simply due to a mandatory platforming puzzles or a boss effectively one shotting you regardless of how prepared you feel. Despite this the progression & permanent unlock chase in the game is highly addictive & coupled with the great gameplay you will be restarting your runs immediately after you stop screaming.

The main feature I would say is missing from Roboquest is the ability to save mid-run. I would play this game much more often if this feature was added. Runs can last well over an hour & the game could easily let users save during each safe zone. Unfortunately due to the length of the runs I find myself rarely picking up Roboquest. The game finds itself in a strange position as the addictive nature of the combat makes you wanna quickly pick up & play some rounds but you are unable to squeeze small doses in unlike other games in the hybrid genre.

While not a perfect shooter or a perfect roguelike Roboquest is a rare game to successfully marry the two genres that will keep you coming back for more thanks to having incredibly satisfying gunplay. A satisfying masochist's dream.
