You always imagined that you would be a decent ruler, a fair and benevolent man or woman of the people.
You swore that you would never abuse power for personal gain, that there is a noble, pure, and divine vision to follow... but yet every event or message that pops up on your screen just pulls at you a little, doesn't it? Just nags a tiny bit - at the strings of your soul.
It's just a light tickle at first, barely noticeable as you look at your options and choose the way ahead. But then only a little while later you're sweating. Surely assassinating your rival's child isn't a bad thing, right? I mean you're doing it for the greater good aren't you?... and imprisoning your ever faithful adoring wife isn't wrong, right? I mean... you suspect she's plotting against you without any evidence - but if she was that good at winning your trust -of course there wouldn't be any evidence, would there? Hmm... maybe you should execute her as soon as she arrives there, just to be sure... Your Secret Society friends didn't like her anyway...

Playing this game will reveal the darkness hidden in the deep reaches of your soul.

You will do evil, depraved, despicable things to good people and you'll love every moment of it.

10/10 - Best Medieval Sith Lord Trainer Ever

Update (December 2018): 2 things you should be aware of

1) New DLCs always bring patches that WILL break any previously installed mods. Which is unfortunate as there are some really awesome mods out there but they no longer work with the game. Check the mod's comments for compability before attempting to install & play.

2) The latest DLC (and maybe the last one?) 'Holy Fury' is actually good. This breaks tradition with most of the previously released DLC, which were very average. Many features that fans have been wanting/complaining about have been introduced/fixed with this latest DLC. If you were turned away by "Horse Armor" level DLC previously - Holy Fury should bring you back.

Update: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, LEGO Batman 3, LEGO the Hobbit, LEGO The Movie, LEGO Worlds, and LEGO Jurassic World no longer work on 2024 versions of Windows 10 64-bit.

I've personally tried every help article and youtube video I can find, I've even gone to the extreme - formatting all hard drives, a new motherboard + CPU + ram, and a fresh downloaded 2024 version of Windows 10 64bit with all fresh dotnet (3.5 - 6.0 all installed), C++, Direct X, and fresh Steam app and fresh game installs. These games will still not load. However The same games work perfectly on old 2022 versions of Windows 10 64-bit, and any Windows 10 32-bit system I've tested seem to have no issues.

ALL other LEGO games I've come across work fine on 2024 versions of Windows 10 64-bit. including much older games like LEGO Batman 1 (or 2) or LEGO Star Wars, or LEGO Harry Potter, and newer games like LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 and LEGO DC Super-Villains work with no issues whatsoever.

If the issue with 2024 Windows 10 64-Bit and the above LEGO games are fixed in future I will report back and change my rating.

Previously I rated this game positively:

*Disclaimer: I played Lego MARVEL Super Heroes prior to playing this game. I have all the DLC (as of 23/05/17) for both Lego Marvel games*

++TLDR: This is not 'Lego MARVEL Super Heroes 2', but there's heaps of fun once you get past the (often frustrating) Story Mode. 'Go to Space' is where most of that fun is accessed.++

This is Lego MARVEL's Avengers - the Lego game of the first 2 movies (DLC adds more content from other movies and TV series).

PROS:
-Improved Graphics
-New (Different) Characters
-New Team Up fighting abilities
-Has all the key locations and scenes of the movies
-Has the voice acting from the movies
-Has borrowed resources from Lego MARVEL Super Heroes game
-Lego have added in their own extra stuff into cut scenes to enhance hilarity (those poor Lego Chickens and Pigs!)
-The last half of Story Mode is decent
-Freeplay after finishing Story Mode and visiting all the hubs is heaps of fun
-MARVEL's Agents of Shield content for the Daisy fans!

CONS:
-The gameplay in the first half of Story Mode is frustrating:
Higher than expected unfair deaths for a lego game
Cut scenes, level skips, and hint items get in the way of lego stud grinding
Extended QTEs stop you from defending yourself.
-Using the voices from the movies' audio track was a great idea, however could have done with running through an audio equilizer to help make it match the characters on screen. Mostly it's ok, sometimes characters near you sound like they have a cold and are driving through a far away tunnel.
-Everytime the game is loaded it connects to the MARVEL lego server to promote Games/DLC you already have
-Captain America must be Old Man Steve Rogers as somehow he is worse in 1 on 1 fighting than any other story mode character. Maybe it's the speed of his fighting animation or glitchy 'block mode' but I would recommend fighting random npcs with any other character.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
It is a good game but let down by the first half of the Story Mode. I wouldn't recommend buying this game INSTEAD of Lego MARVEL Super Heroes, but if you already have that game and are looking for more - there is plenty of fun... if you persevere.

**Warning: AMD GPU + AMD Motherboard with Hyper-V and/or AMD-V/VTx enabled (for Virtual Machines) and/or Windows Sleep enabled - will cause video streaming issues**

This is not anything that Steam can fix, this is because AMD changed their background video stream encoding many drivers ago (Crimson) and is no longer fully compatible with Hyper-V enabled (windows 8-10) and/or AMD-V/VTx (Virtualization) being enabled in the BIOS, or Windows sleep. (It also is the same reason why AMD Relive or other game recording apps may not work all the time.)

I could only get Steam Link working 50% of the time (mostly failed after my pc woke up from sleep mode) until I turned off Hyper-V, disabled VTx in my Bios, and turned off windows sleep. Now works sweet every time :)

Edit: Windows Sleep and/or Virtualization options enabled causes the same issue with AMD drivers - Steam Link won't stream after a wake from sleep. Both options disabled and works fine now (Windows Hibernation mode has no issues)

Love the Art and Game Concept, but it should be called "1001 ways to kill Red Hood via bad collision boxes".

Beautiful game but I spent so much time wondering if my controller was broken or if I had gone crazy and was seeing platforms where there were no platforms, or NOT seeing danger where the game thought danger was.
Having poor collision boxes around 3d models makes the game last a little longer (it's 2-3 hrs), but dying over and over and over because the game is giving you poor feedback just makes it 3 hours of frustration.
If some one could patch the game and fix the collision boxes and other glitches/bugs - I would heartily recommend this game.

I'm a huge fan of 'X-men Legends' 1 & 2, 'Marvel Ultimate Alliance' 1, AND 'Lego Star Wars' - this game is a nice combination of all of them. After playing through 'Lego Batman', and feeling it was average, I was intially a little worried. But After playing the game on a friend's console I just had to purchase this game for myself. The amount of character unlocks, nods to fans, background details... it's incredible. They even managing to capture each character's signature body moments (check out the Lego version of 'Black Widow' ;) ). Highly recommended!
