couldn't even play the tutorial. i got stuck in a black screen with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ UI showing a compass and "fists". couldn't open a menu. couldn't ALT+TAB out of the game. couldn't open Task manager to get out of the game. had to do a full restart of my PC just to use it properly again.

uninstalled.

Edit: i just found out that i can't even remove it from my account library. all i can do is hide it. wow.

i was never one to really write reviews for games, even ones i have hundreds of hours on, like valhiem. but i felt the need to write one for this ashlands update.

as a solo player. it's a horrible experience. i just landed on ashlands with maybe 3 to 4 hours of exploration into the new region (as of typing this) and i'm completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of mobs and their unreasonable respawn rate. it's incredibly ANTI solo player and it's made the experience one of frustration and objective misery.

i'm not having fun being chased by 15 mobs of various types at any given moment. i get no time to build anything safely, not even a small 3x3 portal hut, since that gets destroyed either while i'm building or imediately after.

it's the mob respawn timer that's the worst of it. i figured that if i cleared an area and destroyed the red glowing mob spawners the surrounding area would become remotely safe enough to begin building a permanent base. my god was i wrong.

negative review until they fix mob spawning frequency and mob density to account for solo players.

8/10. my only real problem with the game is the lack of direction or dialogue with small hints to help you figure out what to do next. it's easy to get stuck and roam the mill forever before figuring out what it is you need to do next.

other than that, the most psycologically mind ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game i've ever played

very addictive game. easy to waste hours on.
