Really fun concept, it controls great and I can't wait to see the full release.

Many have been complaining about the optimisation, which could use some work but the biggest issue for me seemed to be with shaders, or lighting. I play 3440x1440, and no matter what settings I played with there was giant black boxes appearing on screen whenever the main island was in view.

Kat is a glorified QOM crusher, who can seemingly climb 12% hills like they weigh 40kg, and crush flats with the momentum & power of a 100kg rider. It's great.

Very promising, as far as what is in the demo It needs more work. The UI is excellent, however the Act timeline and upcoming days aren't clearly explained. Rituals don't feel very worthwhile from what I've seen so far, and game in general feels like it can just be brute forced.

Obviously focusing on a build, and playing for synergies is worth doing here, however you could probably clear the first acts by filling your draw pile with junk. Also the game crashed on the Act 2 boss in my first play through.

Again the game is really promising, however I'd need to see how well the full game is balanced before I can say it's worth investing dozens of hours into.

A great take on the rogue-lite genre. The game is teeming with atmosphere and there are an unheard-of amount of quality of life features that let you enjoy the game no matter how difficult it gets.

It's all of the best part of city builder games, with none of the mind numbing micromanagement. It has so many well though out mechanics and fairly meaningful progression.

There's likely hundreds of hours of content here, and a really great ramping difficulty that works so well because of how great the game is balanced. The only negative, is that the game play progression seemingly devolves into difficulty increases, with no new mechanics or buildings, but I haven't reached that point even after 40+ hours.

Vinesauce's videos got me hooked on this game, and I can't recommend it enough.

Update: The latest update seems to have fixed the majority of crashing problems most people were having on both DX11 and Vulkan. Easily GOTY.

The game has severe stability issues at the moment.

The game is incredibly fun. The publisher & now developer Team 17 is awful.

The cost of the game was increased by 20% following an awful trailer and a questionable update, an in-game store was included to sell micro transactions. They really need to turn this game around FAST. Unless they want to start haemorrhaging their community.

I'm worried about the future of this game. The former developer left the game in an amazing place, however the current dev's have shown that they have no interest in maintaining this games stellar game play & reputation.

I just finished my first play-through, and this game was fun as hell. The keyboard controls aren't the easiest to get used to, I'd recommend a gamepad if you're impatient, but going with the default controls really plays into the theme of the tutorial and story, which is that you're a little baby born into a royal family who is just learning to how to roll Katamari balls.

It took me about 10-15 minutes to get used to the basic keyboard controls, and about 30-40 minutes to feel comfortable with it. You don't need to use any of the advanced skills to beat the game, just basic movement. Past movement issues, the sound track is amazing, it is the only game OST i have on my music playlist now, almost every song is really well produced and catchy or upbeat and fun.

It's definitely worth your time and worth playing, especially if it's your first Katamari game.

Early Access Review
Staff offering to leak upcoming content for positive Steam reviews in their official discord. OWI has been a clown show since their founding, that was part of the charm. This is just a breach of TOS & scummy to boot.
_____

There's nothing quite like Squad.
Definitely check it out if you're into more tense, slower paced action that's easy to get into and incredibly accessible.
