It's hard to express just how great this game is in 2018. It had massive issues at launch and severely lacked content, but over time the developers have slowly evolved the game into something amazing. There aren't any game breaking bugs or exploits anymore, enemies don't take hundreds of rounds to kill, hacking isn't rampant, the loot is fantastic, the grind is fantastic, and there is so much content. Even without the season pass, there's tons of content available to you, with many parts of year one and all of year two being absolutely free for everyone.

If you stopped playing before, pick it up again and try it out. If you never bought the game, don't look at what people have said about it in the past, it's a completely different game in 2018. There are plenty of updated reviews for this game and its most recent patch (1.8) on the internet.

Wow, I'm almost impressed by how silly most of these reviews are. The negative reviews generally range anywhere from "they added women into a world war 2 game what the ♥♥♥♥ how am i supposed to play this unrealistic garbage" to "its still cod with a world war 2 theme what the ♥♥♥♥". Both are silly arguments against the game.

Let's start with the "they added women into a world war 2 game what the ♥♥♥♥ how am i supposed to play this unrealistic garbage" argument. Yeah, it's not a super hardcore 100% historically accurate milsim shooter, I don't know why you ever expected that from Call of Duty. It doesn't try to be that, it never has, and it never will be. Adding women shouldn't ruin a game for you and if it does that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sad. Sure, some of the other stuff like reflex sights and suppressors may not have been super common in WW2 but I see why they did it, and like that they did. They did it for the enjoyment factor, something pretty standard for Call of Duty. They always put fun > realism. I don't think this is a bad thing, it's just a different design choice. Again, Call of Duty has never tried to be a realistic shooter and if that's what you were expecting, you're lost. Battlefield 1 is guilty of the same design choice. Do you know how many guns were commonly used during WW1? Like two. Do you really want a game where you sit in a trench the entire time using one of the two rifles in the game? No? DICE thought so. If we're gonna be completely real with ourselves, Call of Duty WWII is probably more historically accurate then Battlefield 1. Battlefield 1 is a WW2 shooter themed as a WW1 shooter. You don't need to know much more than basic history to figure that one out.

Now the "its still cod with a world war 2 theme what the ♥♥♥♥" argument. Yeah, it's still CoD, what the ♥♥♥♥ did you expect from a title with "Call of Duty" in it? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a game in the Call of Duty series is going to feel like other Call of Duty games. Yeah, it's an arcade shooter, it's pretty clearly marketed as that. If you expected something different that's on you. If you're looking for a realistic shooter, you've come to the wrong place, and there's nothing wrong with that, the game just doesn't fit your taste. Doesn't make it a bad game. It feels like CoD, but the WW2 theme alone sets it far apart from its predecessors. The closest you're going to get is World at War from 2008. It is also the end of the horrid futuristic games with exo suits and wall running and crazy lazer guns and ♥♥♥♥. It's back to what Call of Duty should be, and it's addicting as hell.

This game absolutely has issues, to say that it's perfect is simply wrong. The netcode feels atrocious, some of the balance choices are quite questionable, and it at best feels like an okay PC port (numerous people have had performance issues, borderless window mode has huge input lag, and there seems to be a lack of advanced graphical settings for users with lower end PC's). Those are more reasonable criticisms. Overall though I really enjoyed the beta and look forward to the official release. Hopefully some of these issues are addressed before launch.

I only have a few hours in this game, but I definitely think I would enjoy it if I had more time to play.

NOTE: This is a multiplayer review. So I've played quite a bit of the game (3 hours), and while it is great, it does have some glaring flaws.

PROS:
-Double jump and boosting forward is a ton of fun
-Guns feel evenly balanced, no gun seems to notably outperform another
-Even the guns that aren't super good, are fun to use (the lazer gun for example)
-Fast-paced, action packed gameplay
-Kill-streaks aren't as big of importance anymore, they don't seem to bother me nearly as much and aren't nearly as common
-Health system feels like a hybrid of Black Ops 2 and Ghosts (which in a game with double jumps, you almost want a Ghosts health system)
-FOV slider at launch
-Optimization is much better than previous call of duty games
-Good graphics
-Has a paintball effect option which shoots out yellow paintballs (Does bullet damage of course) which helps you see your aim and is just in general fun to use and as zero downsides
-Has firing range you can access while in pre-game lobby to pass intermission time

CONS:
-Map design feels poor and sometimes doesn't feel as if designed for exo movement and buildings tend to have too many entrances which leads to having an enemy in front of you, above you, behind you, and to your side 24/7
-Every time you exo move you appear on the minimap unless you have a perk to counter-act it, which makes you very vulnerable on the minimap
-Hit detection can be spotty at times
-You unlock some of the best guns early on which removes the joy of grinding up your levels to get better guns and joy of unlocking those better guns because you start out with the best guns the second you load up the game
-FOV is only 65-90 degrees
-Strafing has deemed itself near useless in my book and extremely hard to do in midst of a battle
-Some gunner ship like kill-streaks are extremely easy to use and give infantry on the ground no warning that their about to die

My specs, settings, and FPS:
AMD FX-8300 @ 3.3 Ghz
GTX 760 2GB
12GB RAM

Settings: maxed out @ 1080P

Average FPS: 90

I personally would say the game is worth your while and hard earned money, but that's up for you to decide.

Insurgency is an action-packed, round-based, csgo knockoff. It pits two teams against each other, the Insurgents and Security Forces. It also features a handful of maps where half of them are the exact same but at night. Those night maps include night vision goggles that will hurt your eyes for an hour and you'll have to go to the hospital. It also features Two maps that completely suck but everyone votes for anyways. And if that isn't enough, it includes thousands of white 10 year old virgins that purposely teamkill because they think their funny when their really not. 13/10 - IGN No black characters.
7/10 - Game Informer I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ black.
