To emulate the fun of this game, unplug your keyboard and mouse for 8 and a half minutes and stare at the screen. Congrats, you've just played a round of lockdown protocol.

There's a good idea in this game, but it's buried under bad design. There is zero incentive to not just dash for a weapon and start killing people, even if you're not the killer. The punishment for dying is a severe 5+ minute countdown to the end of the round where you literally can't do anything. So you try to play fair and get killed by the killer, and if you're REALLY luck you get killed first which means waiting up-to 8 and a half minutes until the round ends. Even if the employees win, you didn't get to play. Next round you try to do the tasks with a weapon because you're paranoid, and people accuse you of being the killer because you have a weapon. They kill you and you get a timeout for 5 minutes while you watch the actual killers kill everyone but one and you get to play the audience of a let's player and observe. Now on the next round, find out who the killer is and try to kill them. WHOOPS, your stamina is health and by mashing attack you accidentally ate the last of your health by defending yourself! You lose! Timeout time! Repeat 12 times in a row and you've experienced the fun of Lockdown Protocol.

Advice for the devs: Find a way to make the killer face more consequences, because as of now they literally just need to kill people as fast as possible and the employees just get to sit with a thumb up their ass waiting for the round to end before they get to the next round and the same damn thing happens.

The story and presentation is pretty cool but the repetitive puzzles get old by the halfway point and the combat is clunky and feels like filler. Way too many repeat fights and the poor controls and camera caused me to die far more than I ever did in a game like Sekiro which is much much more difficult in its mechanics. By the time the credits rolled I was itching to uninstall.

Unironically one of the best games ever made. Endless experimentation, solid online, deep but simple mechanics, tons of customization, and it's just damn fun.

A charming but extremely basic game. I like the concept a lot (in essence kind of like Katamari but much easier). I feel this didn't go far enough with its gameplay and rushed the levels to be too short. There are some interesting puzzles...but only a few total. Overall enjoyable but I can't recommend picking it up for more than 5 bucks.

Friends were begging me to play so I caved and bought it. Played one round and I could see the gameplay loop: Run around endlessly, find generator, fix it a quarter of the way, get zonked by the killer, survive, and repeat. As soon as I found out there are no differences to the gameplay loop outside of the map I was totally uninterested. My friends seem to really like it and clearly a lot of people are into it but it's not my style. I hate games that are just constant running in circles and doing the same thing over and over again.

Got a refund so no harm no foul. I'll stick to single-player horror stuff.

Outside of its mostly good-looking graphics, Bright Memory is laughably amateurish. Despite seeming to be PC-only you can't even change keybinds in the initial build which is bizarre. The last PC game I saw that didn't allow you to change keybinds was Rayman 2, which released over 20 years ago. Mouse aim feels terrible and the shooting mechanics are as basic and barebones as it gets. Enemies are bullet sponges without any real reaction to different kinds of weapons thrown at them. Sound design is barely there and I got hit by enemies I didn't even know were there as outside of attacks they make no noise: no footsteps, no growls, or anything. The story is complete nonsense from what I played.

Really feel like the overwhelming praise is bot-related.

Quite simply, this is the must-have VR game.

It's a perfect example of bringing a tried concept to a new medium and just NAILING it. Beat Saber feels so good to play but I feel like you could teach almost anyone how to get in the groove in only a handful of songs. I'm not a top-tier player, I don't do any of that darth maul lightsaber nonsense, but playing on expert for many songs is more than enough of a challenge and doesn't get old. Even when you start to get good at a song, there's always a drive to get a better score, a full combo, or to just play it again to get your heartrate up!

And...i'm not supposed to tell you this, but mods make the game indefinitely replayable.

While I'm recommending Ori, it's a very light recommendation. The game is visually very nice and loves to flash you with pretty colors and partially pre-rendered backgrounds and all sorts of particle effects, but the core gameplay is very lacking. Combat never goes beyond "mash X to win" and there aren't really any boss fights in the game to speak of. Abilities are given to you very quickly, but by the time you get them it feels like you should've already had them. Ori's sense of progression gimps the player for what seems to be progression at first, but is actually just out of ideas in how to use the abilities outside of been-there-done-that short challenges. Additionally the game is in-love with quick deaths, but simultaneously against auto-save. Since there is little, if any, punishment for dying, why not just boot you to the beginning of an area when dead? Something just doesn't mix right there.

Overall none of these flaws are enough to get me to say I dislike the game, and it's not bad! But there's enough annoying me that I didn't fall in love with it.

If you want something like Ori that's more in-depth and less style-over-substance, go for Hollow Knight. Not only is that game fantastic from start to finish, it's quite a bit longer, has a more interesting story, and far more challenging, even for seasoned players.

The same performance issues of the original bioshock, remastered for your displeasure!

Look, I really really liked this game the first time I played it but the constant audio issues and occasional crash just ruins the experience. Glad I got this for free (for buying the original, not because of a "review" copy), would be pretty insulted if this was a full release.

Plus, the wild mouse sensitivity issues during cutscenes is just bizarre. Like, how did this get past playtesting?
