Fair Warning: I previously left a negative review for performance problems. I addressed the biggest ones and am happy to suggest this game now.

Unmodified, this game cannot be run in fullscreen mode. At launch it shipped with a fullscreen mode, but if you were to alt+tab your entire computer would become unusable. Rather than fix this the right way (I don't know if TT even understands the cause of the problem), they just disabled the feature altogether. That is the level of commitment you can expect from them on technical matters :-\

Technical problems aside, this game is packed full of content. It's basically the ideal LEGO game, oodles of extra non-story related content to unlock in a fairly large open world. It's like the Marvel Superheroes game, only without the silly superheroes :)

I have changed my review to a thumbs-up, but this is only because of a mod that I wrote (look for it in the guides section).

Given TT's commitment to the game, consider looking for this game when it's on sale. If you have problems with the game you won't be getting any support from them, and $40 might be a tough pill to swallow.

Skyrim: Post-Processing Edition

It's Skyrim with Compute Shaders, beyond that there's nothing special. Play it if you got it for free, but by all means don't pay $40.00 for this.

Unplayable if your controller becomes disconnected; you must restart the game, plugging it back in does not work. I'm not going to waste my time fixing this for QLOC and you really shouldn't have to deal with such poor design.

If they mess Berseria up like this, I'm done with Bandai Namco forever.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Micro USB! Die, die, die you evil spawn of Satan.

Steam client will crash whenever a Micro USB cable wears out and the connection becomes intermittent. Expect to go through a lot of Micro USB cables with this controller and also expect to lose a lot of progress in whatever game you are playing when the Steam client crashes and causes whatever game is running to crash as well.

"Micro USB cables are cheap" is no excuse for this awful design. I am tired of buying cables in bulk for this shoddy piece of electrical engineering. Please Valve, use a better connector standard on future hardware iterations.

What makes this so infuriating is that the cables have no visible defects. The little prongs that are supposed to hold a tight connection simply wear out because they were engineered by baboons.

I really only ask that my cables last 1 insertion; I don't think that's too much to ask. Mini USB was already rated for 1500 insertions, which is 1499 more than anyone needs. The ficticious durability numbers made up for Micro USB (10,000 insertions) are frankly insulting - they fail after 2, with insertion number two occuring only because the piss poor excuse for a plug slipped out of its socket.

It's a scam by cable manufacturers, pure and simple; manufacture the smallest imaginable connector for no real reason, give it the flimsiest retention mechanism 15 minutes of brainstorming can come up with and force it on consumers. This ensures market demand for something nobody wants. If the plug were large enough to be serviced by a human, I'd take a soldering iron and permanently fix this problem with 2 minutes of effort.

I don't even like superheroes, much less the cheery Marvel variety and thoroughly enjoy this game. _Almost_ makes me wonder if the LEGO Harry Potter games are any good.

On a technical note, Super Sampling (e.g. Sparse Grid) is necessary to eliminate texture aliasing on shiny surfaces (there are A LOT of these) that may drive you nuts. This is par for the course in LEGO games and being that this is D3D9 it is simple to set this up (on NVIDIA GPUs).

In this classic walking simulator from Squaresoft with no overworld map or proper airship, you control a ragtag group of misfits whose goal it is later revealed is to kill Luke Skywalker's father. Underwater polo provides a distraction from the main story, but often you find yourself wishing the characters would hurry up and drown so you have something more interesting to do.

Cutscenes are not skippable and do a lot to pad the length of the game. You may find this frustrating as battles with Jabba the Hutt, who is eager to get into Leia's pants, will require you to watch the same 10 minute cutscene multiple times if unsuccessful.

There is also a sequel that pits Princess Leia as the protagonist along with an utterly forgettable supporting cast, including a goth chick that cuts herself to ease the Paine of being cast as Jarjar Binx. While more of an actual game than underwater polo, most people will probably want to skip the sequel.

Absolutely nobody will play the dungeon crawler "final mission" sequel to the sequel, no matter how much they like the actual sequel; an exercise in tedium that takes the fun out of dysfunctional.

In the end, you find out that Bruce Willis was dead the whole time and Leonardo Dicaprio eventually wakes up from his dream and makes the sequel's plot even more confusing and pointless.

Buy the game for Final Fantasy X, play the fanservice sequel that turns likable characters from the original into total ditzes (where is Anita Sarkeesian when you need her?) if you have got nothing better to do, skip the final mission.

The game itself is great; undeniably the quintessential Tales experience. This is why it pains me to see the game in such shabby state on the PC.

Tales of Zestiria obviously had a tight release schedule that made its (almost non-existent by comparison) set of issues excusable. This game has had 12 years since its initial release, no translation work was necessary and has been ported to multiple consoles. There is no excuse for the lack of quality here and I am going to call this what it is, shovelware.

EDIT: 2/29/16
The game still has a few technical issues, but they are actually showing signs of caring about the product and their customers. Coupled with my own product (shameless self promotion), TSFix, the game is in respectable shape finally.

The removal of VMProtect was the tipping point for me, and I can finally recommend the game.

I used to be a fan of Dragonball 15 years ago, but I thought I outgrew anime altogether when I absolutely hated the Shonen Jump stuff that followed it like Bleach and Naruto. Last year's release of Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods piqued my interest in the franchise a little bit and reminded me what popular action anime/manga was like before Naruto and Bleach; classics like Fist of the North Star and Dragonball are, as I have come to realize, timeless.

It is all here, the original Dragonball Z story with enough alternate twists to keep things fresh and interesting. That is a good thing too, because at the moment the servers are rarely available. You had best plan to get your entertainment value from local multiplayer or story mode in lieu of working online. I intend to finish story mode and then move on, and even as someone who has not been into DBZ in years and years, I feel I got my money's worth.

As for scoring this game - thumbs up / thumbs down is a terribly flawed way to review games and I wish it would go away along with Steam user tags. Shadow of Mordor was not a terrible game, but it certainly was not a great one, so I gave it a thumbs down (which signifies the end of the world to most people you ask). Objectively, I would give this game about 7.5/10 (1 point taken off for server instability), or what I consider enough to earn a thumbs up.

If you are a contemporary fan of Dragonball Z then picking this game up is a no brainer, if you are a fan who thought they outgrew it over a decade ago you may still find the game enjoyable and worth the asking price (I know I did). Just do not expect much in the way of online functionality; it's broken.

This is a cautionary review, illustrating why you should ignore the new Steam user-tags feature.

If you enjoy the Batman Arkham ___ games and Assassin's Creed, you will probably enjoy this game. If you go into it expecting an action RPG, you are going to hate the game. There's no coherent story, just a bunch of missions and an over-abundance of combat to distract you from this fact. That is a proven formula for a a good action-adventure game, but not so much for an RPG.

I would recommend Risen 3 instead of this game if you're looking for an action RPG to hold you over before Dragon Age.

Be warned, the tags that appear the top of the store page in bold blue letters are the opinions of other users. They are not, as you would expect, official in any way. There are a lot of people who cannot tell the difference between an action-adventure game and an RPG and this game is unfortunately mislabeled as an RPG in BOLD BLUE letters. You have to scroll down to find the official genre, which is poor design on VALVE's part.

The game Larian always wanted to make, made possible by crowd funding rather than a pushy publisher who would refuse to publish a turn-based game. Think kind of like a cross between Baldur's Gate and Divine Divinity with a modern twist (and a toolset). Definitely worth the purchase price!
