Man of Medan was a great game, but a very sub-par horror game. I felt to I was really intrigued with the game and the character development, but lacked in what was supposed to set this game aside- horror. Honestly if you've played A Way Out, then you can see how this doesn't differ far from the same type of play style. While the jump scares are perfectly timed and well placed, there didn't seem to have the scare factor that horror games are to present. I think a lot of "hype" surrounding this game mainly came from the "Until Dawn" creators. Some horror games only focus on horror, other plot. I get that, but when you staple the horror genre to a game, I expect to be scared, but instead I'm left focusing on the quick keys. Again, not a bad thing, expect when you replace great oppurtinities for scares, with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ quick key combos. Maybe the intention was to keep the players ready to get spooked, only to be let down once more. The thing that really caught my eye was the horror game with a friend, only to feel like I had bought the wrong horror game. They did an incredible job with jumping characters, keeping you informed on what's happening to the other characters. Back to "Until Dawn" a true masterpiece, super scary with a very well written plot, and incredibly developed characters. It shares some traits with this game, but doesn't showcase the creator's true capability. Maybe if the "Dark Pictures Anthology" becomes a series, we could look forward to another diamond in the rough horror game to make an appearance, or just more flops.
Man of Medan was a great game, terrible horror game.

This only goes for The Following!

Dying Light was extremely fun and I had a blast playing it through with a friend. But i felt like The Following really pressured me into playing with friends 24/7. The Following took the whole aspect of parkour and replaced it with driving, and there's only a couple places to parkour in the whole map. It's a huge map and requires a lot of driving which can be fun, but also very boring and repetitive. Also the story line is mainly made up of doing side quests 60% + through the story. It took away from the zombie plague and made The Following all about a religion and really wasn't that enjoyable to play as much. My friend and I felt like they mainly focused on building the religions background, rather than the plagues and etc. All in all, Dying Light was SUPER fun and extremely enjoyable, but The Following was horrible. 4/10 for the weapons and new bosses, etc.
