I never thought a visual novel about catgirls would not only captivate me but heal a relationship I thought was beyond repair. A Wild Catgirl Appears is more than just a game—it’s a masterpiece of storytelling and art, wrapped in a charming, emotional package that will stay with you long after you close the game.

The story? Incredible. It’s deceptively simple at first glance—lighthearted and fun—but it has a surprising depth that caught me off guard. It’s sweet, emotional, and full of characters that feel real in ways you wouldn’t expect. I came in for cute catgirls and left with a heart full of hope and perspective on life I never expected.

The art style? Breathtaking. Every scene is crafted with so much love and detail that you can feel it. The characters are stunning, each with unique expressions that pull you deeper into their world. It’s not just visuals—it’s art that stirs your soul.

But this game didn’t just entertain me; it changed my life. My father and I had been distant for years. His battle with addiction strained our relationship beyond recognition. I bought this game on a whim, thinking it’d be a distraction from life’s heaviness. What I didn’t expect was for my father to sit down and watch me play. What started as a casual glance turned into hours of us playing together, laughing at the dialogue, and slowly reconnecting.

For the first time in years, we found common ground. We bonded over the story, discussed our favorite characters, and shared something real again. Something good. That simple experience opened a door we both thought was permanently closed. Eventually, he decided to seek help. He’s been in recovery for three years now. Three. Years. And I owe that first step to this game.

So, yeah, maybe it’s just a visual novel to some. But to me, it’s a symbol of something much bigger—a reminder that no matter how far apart we might drift, there’s always a way back. Sometimes, it just takes a catgirl or two to get there.

If you’re on the fence, trust me—just play it. You never know how a game might change your life.

I'll admit I was a hater of this entry back when this came out because, like a lot of us, I was tired of the political climate at the time, and didn't want to think about it in a game yet alone live through it. So I put off on playing it until now, and I have to say, it's a beautiful game. I think the criticisms are fair but it's still a masterpiece of story telling.

I've been conflicted on this review. I sink so much time into HF1 that when 2 came out I bought it right away. I kind of wish I waited. As many others have said, it's missing features from HF1 that make it feel unpolished. Examples being curtains, blinds, carpet flooring and basic interior things such as doormats and simple before and after photos are not available as of Dec 2023. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews about them removing the assembly mini games. I for one am mixed on it myself. Where I do miss them from time to time, I'd love the option to turn them on and off to fit what play style I'm doing currently. Do I want to be more immersed or am I trying to speed through a flip? Overall there's a lot of good in HF2. I think it's going to take a few updates before I can recommend it at $40 though. Right now it's basically just a coloring book simulator with some basic room editing. It just over all feels like the soul is missing from this entree but I have faith in the DEVs to do right by us via updates. If they could meld this game with the features HF1 has, it would be a GOAT simulator game. And No, not that one ;) The obly reason I'll recommend it in its current state is if you're so starved for more houses to flip and the price tag doesn't scare you off for what's essentially a beta version being called full release.

I enjoyed this a lot! The music is dope, the game play is fun, the collectibles aren't SUPER hard to find, the story is funny and gave me a few chuckles, the levels are really well thought out and I really do think this is a project made with love and that shows. The TLDR is I'd recommend this to Halloween fans and spooky game lovers alike...IF it's on sale...and here's why.

The weapons don't feel fleshed out. The first upgrade you get, isn't really that much better than the first. I found myself sticking to the 4th one you get all the way to the last level. A few times the earlier weapons even forced me to spin off a cliff because of an unstoppable animation. I also wish there was more variety in the skins you can unlock. They're all kind of the same color palette and...boring. The first couple skins I was like "Okay these are lower end ones and the higher end ones are going to be REALLY cool" and I was wrong. For $30 I would recommend waiting for a sale like I did. 3.5/5.
PS: A controller is the way you're meant to play this just IMO.

Bad story, glitches, game breaking bugs, finally locked me out of the game. Horrible.

Is it perfect? No. It's a corrupted version of Forest with some elements of other maps thrown in. It's hard, but fair. Not sure it's worth $3 with it being only 9 holes though. 3/5.

I rarely post reviews on Steam but I truly love this game. Makes me feel so nostalgic of summer trips to the beach arcade and fall trips to the carnival. Very responsive developer as well. They really seem to have a love for arcades and the vibe that these places fill us with to the point where I got emotional playing this. If you like simulator games and have a love for arcades, this game, especially at this low price point is a no brainer. Very excited to see future updates.
