When you start the game, an Epic Games popup appears for a second, and the game starts. Wow I have an Epic Games account and its already installed, who cares!
The game is better than Earth Defense Force 5 and I'm playing this instead of Helldivers, so buy it if you wanna scream EDF with your comrades

I was playing this when Starfield came out. I went back to playing this....
The game was interesting to begin with. It has a few rough edges, but it feels comfy, and familiar. The translation is pretty hard to understand, but often times hilarious. In the tutorial, I was told that I started with a "Dog beating stick".
The social interactions you get into can be amusing. I got date r*ped by an incredibly strong warrior woman; I got knocked out fighting bandits, carried to a desert and abandoned, and this amazonian ox of a woman demands my love, or threatens me with death. So I try to avoid her despite politely disregarding her attempts, aand find love with another. The drama that followed was interesting to say the least, but I created an insane arch enemy in the process.
Also, the combat waas fun and creative after some practice. combat is incredibly hard to understand by reading in-game tutorials, due to porr translation, but intuitive and repetitive enough that its easy to figure out, tough to master.

Im giving this game a negative review, but I still recommend the game. The music is just out of place, and does not embody the theme of this game. When I saw you could unlock music tracks for levels, I was like oh cool! But as I was playing for a while, the music started to dig into my skull. It belongs in like a puzzle/exploration/farming game, not a bug squashing/minigun-wielding/mech game. Imagine the music for animal crossing or like a space-chess game. Thats what you get to hear for as long as you can survive. I realize that behind this elevator music, there is an artist, and he tried really hard, but his/her music belongs in the menu, not in the game. And dont get me wrong, the music can be appreciated, on song slapped, but as a whole, this game would be better with some more engaging music.
ALSO, the pace at the start of the game is pretty slow with the reloading of the guns. I realize its something to upgrade, but there isnt a very good way to see how long its reloading, or how many bullets you have left.
Finally, the UI for upgrading isnt very intuitive. I think missed the fact that you could change the things you upgrade at the top, because the hotkey indicators at the top were very small (trigger buttons)

This game is worth every penny. Its frantic, but not a button masher. You have to be very precise. The gameplay is just ridiculous, and the narrative is excellent. It feels like a Choose-Your-Own-Story/Super meat boy/Ninja action game with a very mature story with time altering mechanics and crisp VHS quality

9.5/10
This game is just great. Honestly, I always had my eye on it since Im a sucker for long, story driven, grindy RPGs, so finally I bought it on sale for $14. If you ever played Star Ocean, Final Fantasy, Grandia or anything like that, this game is well worth it.
Combat is like Kingdom Hearts, or Star Ocean; real-time action-based hack-and-slash. Lots of Hyphens there. Combat uses a blend of familiar mechanics; fast attack, strong attack, ranged, and skills. Your attack combos feel fluid, and the skills are powerful and very pretty.
The game opens up after a brief introduction, giving you the option to free roam and kill a bunch of wandering baddies. When you roam around the country, your party looks like little chibi bobbleheads, but you can jump and collect things. I like how you can run around on the mountains and actually roam huge maps, jump on things, no invisible walls. The first level was complete with a huge unbeatable dragon, so this game has a nice nostalgic feel for me.
The less you know about the games progression and gameplay flow, the better. Theres alot of cool things you can collect and level up, and you basically build a huge kingdom.
And if all that doesn't get you interested, you play as the President of the United States. Like, straight up shoot a goblin in the face with a handgun.

They had a rocky release, and the Steam review boards are getting bombed. "Negative" reviews between Feb 13 and Feb 20 should be taken with a grain of salt. Alot of crappy people begging for compensation on lost save day for a game thats been out for 2 days.
The game is great. Really brings some refreshment to the Genre. An optimized Online system would only make it better, but it will get fixed in time
