As of this writing, I've put about an hour of playtime into the game. I will confess, this review is half review, half soap-box.

I am on level -3.

The game is coherently presented in its survival-horror form. Items and weapons are presented in a clever fashion. Roguelike elements are handled cleverly. The meat is beautiful.

To be honest: I just want to whinge about the crybabies that are upset that the game doesn't let them murder everything AND get the rainbow/sunshine victory splashscreen that they feel entitled to upon achieving their preferred digital holocaust. I feel like this has been a perennial argument since the release of spec ops: the line. Sorry that somebody decided to tell a story that includes (barebones, vague) consequences to the horrific violence you've been sort of doing/consuming casually. Heavens forbid you reflect on your own agency in a world where you are insulated against the horror of such violence.

"i shouldn't be rewarded for exercising restraint" is the critique of the brute.

Go read some books.

The game is good, atmospheric, haunting, horrible.

Nascent city builder in a pretty pixel package. Is featured enough currently (11-11-2020) for lengthy enjoyment. I've experienced no jank or bugginess, and the dev seems to be responding quickly to folks' first impressions (i.e. a painful to look at UI). Definitely watch, and if you're a fan of the genre, pick it up. If you liked Rise to Ruin but hated the tower defense metagame - this might scratch that city builder itch.

Come for the slick 16-bit GTA-like gameplay, stay for the scathing critique of late-stage consumer capitalism.

Great premise, well written, mechanically sound.

There's a lot of over engineered strategy/strategy RPG trash on steam right now and this game makes it all look especially bad.

Scratches the "sell stuff make money" itch without any low-high price chasing. Love the styling. The farming/crafting could use a little fleshing out, but it isn't the focus. Finally a game that lets me sweep a floor.
