Its not an unique game, its rare these days but so are games that have had a lot love put into them.
This game is solid, had fun even on a second playthrough. When it first came on pc it had some notable bugs but now that im playing a second time, there were no bugs that would have gained my attention, seems like they have fixed a lot of bugs.
If you are going to buy this game, please don't go in with a mindset that notes how generic things are, it is generic, but it doesn't take away from the fact that this is a very solid game.

So if you are looking for a *new* open world survival game that doesn't suck, pick this.

Also the graphics are pretty, speaking of that, im not so sure about performance since my pc is pretty beefy, but it feels fairly optimized.

If your game is crashing on start i recommend lowering your gpu overclocks a bit, also made it a lot more stable.

This one is a lot easier to get into, they give you at least a pistol at the start, i mean, it does make sense since it was the first fallout game so people are not so familiar with the mechanics so they give you an easier start, but idk, i really don't feel the spears they give you at the start of Fallout 2, especially when the game is so much longer, so the start does feel a lot longer too. It always felt like a huge block when starting a new playtrough of Fallout 2 "ugh, gotta spear ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ geckos for half an hour missing 80% of attacks". But in Fallout you get the pistol, you are really accurate with it so the start of the game goes really smoothly, under 30minutes in and you are already killing khans that give you tons of gear like leather armor and deagles.
Thats honestly why i guess this is my favourite Fallout game over Fallout 2.
Oh and as much as i love the more comedic approach in Fallout 2, i just personally prefer the more bleak hopeless tone in Fallout 1, but hey im not complaining at all about the more comedic approach in Fallout 2, cause it does make sense too, 80 years have passed since the first game and the wasteland has adapted to the situation more.

Edit: Companion wise, Fallout 2 takes the cake, i almost don't even wanna recruit any followers in this game cause they become a major hassle to have with you, + since you cant equip them with any armor (which got added in F2 + some really needed options) they just end up dying constantly. Also, they don't level up with the player so they stay as weak as you first recruited em. And most of the followers are really bland here compared to F2.

I can't imagine anyone who hasn't played this in their childhood to enjoy this game. Its really horrible actually, even for its time it wasn't that good.
But i love it cause of the nostalgia.

Most fun i've had in a game, also, starwars fans gonna love this.
