I played Assassins of Kings on Xbox 360 years ago and I remember it being a bit of a mission to get through and rough around the edges. However, I was determined to play through all the Witcher games on PC and having made some mod adjustments to Witcher 1 which generally made it a more pleasant and playable experience, I thought I'd try the same here to take the edge of a bit.

Honestly? Adding the Witcher 3 face mod (as I did for Witcher 1) again made it feel much more consistent and therefore I felt more invested which helped a lot. Two other small additions I'd recommend were a mod that changed the dodge roll into a more Witcher style pirouette which was a big plus to combat and also another mod that made the camera closer up (expect in combat) so more like a modern 3rd person game which really helped with the immersion - as the normal camera is not great.

As for the game the story is equally as interesting as the first and overall it feels a lot more polished and a lot less fetch quest heavy which was a plus - so I was more interested in the side quests this time round. Chasing the Assassin of kings is a great tale that plays out across three distinct chapters and the game did not overstay it's welcome in a good way, as it was more streamlined and focused. It' s a big upgrade over the first game and you can see how the improvements eventually inspired and evolved into the Witcher 3 and it's open world.

If you liked the first game you'll love this, or if you played the Witcher 3 previously and wanted some more of the back story it's well worth your time especially with the 3 small mods I mentioned which help it feel more like the Witcher 3. As a rough comparison Witcher 2 compared to Witcher 3 is a bit like batman Arkham Asylum to Arkham City - where the first was a more streamlined and tight story in focused environments where the sequel expanded on this with much more to do and more gameplay mechanics.

I would thoroughly recommend a play through though, especially as it's not too long and definitely if you were thinking of playing the Witcher 3 for the first time as it directly links into that and your choices and outcomes do change parts of the Witcher 3 which is really fun to see. You can skip Witcher 1 as it's quite old and janky now and a bit of a slog (suggest watching a recap video instead) while we wait for the remake, but definitely consider giving Witcher 2 a go as it's solid addition to the series.

Can it be a bit janky from time to time? yes.
Does it push the PC to the limit for no real reason? Sure.
Is there bugs in the game and not just the missions? Definitely.
Will you have the best time with friends and randoms in the fight for liberty? Absolutely!

Honestly it just keeps getting better, and the ODST crossover as a Halo fan was awesome to see recently. The additional paid warbonds while not mandatory are fun to pick up now and again, adding a little more variety to work towards in your armour and weapons loadouts if you choose to. Perfect for casual play here and there by not requiring MMO style constant commitment of your time, and you won't ever feel like you're falling behind as it has such solid gameplay mechanics that make it easy to just pick up and play.

Helldivers 2 is a fun and cooperative shooter through and through, and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Remember to unlock the 500kg eagle bomb as soon as you can for ultimate carnage!

Never got round to playing this so after being told it's great with mods (and i'm new to using mods as from console gaming before) I thought i'd give it a try. This is coming from someone who usually plays everything vanilla - this NEEDS mods!

It's a great game in the Witcher series with some interesting story elements and just a great feel overall that expanded the lore for me as I'd only played the latter two in the series previously and read the books. If you're a Witcher fan i do recommend giving it a go for sure, it fleshes out the Geralt and Triss backstory in much more detail and I enjoyed the story which is split into distinct chapters. You can skip through the fetch / kill monster quests if you don't fancy it and are just here for the story - as I must say, as much as i've enjoyed it the combat is rough! Never experienced something so dull, it's like MMO auto attack and basic magic controlled by mouse clicks... it's really weird and I don't know what they were aiming for but it's a huge miss.

Awful combat aside, there's loads of lists online about nexus mods worth having and it's simple drag and drop to install in a folder so i had no trouble. I would personally suggest the WItcher 3 Geralt face as without it the character model looks really strange and the high res graphics overhaul as musts. Rest is pretty much up to you but to power through the game just enjoying the story I also added unlimited health and stamina (as combat was so boring / awful) so i could kill things quickly and move on with the game. There's also a mod that makes the dice poker game a bit more forgiving as without it you lose more often than not and it's frustrating so maybe consider that if you are having trouble.

Overall if you are a WItcher fan i'd thoroughly suggest giving it ago, just not the vanilla experience as it's tough without mods. It's a bit rough gameplay wise and it almost put me off after a couple of hours if not for some modding, which would have been a shame as the rest holds up surprisingly well.

Been working my way through the campaigns of the Battlefields so can't comment on the multiplayer on this one as haven't touched it, but it has been a welcome change of setting seeing WW1 take the spotlight over the usual military shooter time periods.

Campaign is 6x short stories set across a few 'checkpoint' style chapters based on key moments of the war played from different perspectives. I was expecting the tank focused squad mission to drag on but it was surprisingly well paced, and similarly the aerial campaign didn't overstay it's welcome - the ending of which over London being a particular highlight.

Guns are solid and sound good, destruction was plentiful and graphics were strong for it's age - it also ran really smooth with no issues. Overall short but sweet and worth it if you pick it up in a sale. The only real issue was a slight technical one that with my Xbox Series S/X controller I couldn't find anyway to get 'rumble' to work with the vibration settings through steam or in game settings both remotely or cabled (I have checked and it works fine with other games).
