SAVE YOUR MONEY... After putting a lot of time into both games (Over 500 hours played between both), it’s pretty clear the second one just doesn’t justify its release. It adds a few new features, sure, but it removes a ton of the creative tools that made the first game so much better. Being able to download other players’ homes is cool, but the original game had full Steam Workshop support, which let the community create and share custom items. Right now, the sequel limits you to a small set of furniture, which really kills the creativity the first game allowed.

On top of that, the devs are still focusing most of their attention on the first game new DLC, and now a remastered version that’s supposed to include all previous content plus upgraded features like home import/export (which is only in the second game at the moment). If you just want to play solo, the sequel’s sandbox mode, which used to be DLC in the first game, really doesn’t make it worth buying.

Honestly, you’re better off waiting for the remaster of the first game. It’s expected to combine the best features of both games, improve the visuals, and bring back Steam Workshop support. Overall, it’s more cost-effective to stick with the first game and its expansions, or wait for the remaster.
