Journey Through The Undead is not a perfect game, and when compared to AAA zombie shooters it can feel rough and unpolished in places. Gunplay isn’t always as satisfying as it could be, and there are some inconsistencies and rough edges that are hard to ignore.

That said, it’s important to keep in mind that this is an indie game made by just two developers from Sri Lanka, who are clearly passionate and still learning the craft. Judged from that angle, it’s a decent and commendable effort.

The tropical, Sri Lankan-inspired environments give the game a unique atmosphere, and there are a few surprising moments that help it stand out from typical zombie games. While it has clear flaws, it also has heart and identity.

If you enjoy indie zombie shooters and are willing to meet the game on its own terms, there’s still something here worth checking out.
