As a longtime fan of the Civilization series, I was really excited for Civ VII, but unfortunately, the game falls short in several key areas. The biggest issue for me is the new age system. Instead of the familiar progression through eras, you now move through only three broad "ages." It feels like a huge step backward. The richness and variety of the previous era-based progression is completely gone, and the game now lacks the same depth and strategic complexity that made earlier Civ titles so compelling.

Even worse is the lack of "endless" gameplay. Previous Civ games allowed you to keep playing past the point of any victory, but in Civ VII, once you hit a victory condition, the game is over. This feels very restrictive and takes away a lot of the replayability that Civ games are known for. The game is much more "one-and-done" now, which is a huge letdown.

Additionally, the AI feels like a step backward. Despite the promise of improvements, I find the computer opponents to be too predictable and often lacking in strategy. The game just doesn’t offer the same challenge or dynamic unpredictability that made earlier titles so engaging.

While the graphics are nice, it feels like the game prioritizes aesthetics over meaningful gameplay changes. Overall, Civ VII feels like a shallow version of its predecessors, and I can't recommend it to fans of the series who want that deep, endless strategy experience we’ve come to love.

Although people say that because it was removed due to younger audiences, we should have the option to turn it on... FOR FREE! Cutting out blood and gore AND the chaos race was a big excuse for $$$$$$$$. That being said, this will get a negative from me. Good game though!
