didn't expect much but it has quickly become one of my favorites. not sure if my approach to the game was similar to most players, but this is the sort of game where I dont think it matters all that much. the difficulty is fully customizable if you dont want a challenge, or if you want a serious one, and there are also several core gameplay loops that aren't necessarily required but all have their strong suits. if you are interested at all in simple to understand but relatively deep tactics style gameplay, being a sailor, fighting for a kingdom or running your own empire*, fully customizable parties and characters with a dual class system, being a merchant, good world building with in-game lore (even if there is the occasional corny dialogue line). or a game you can just chill out and do little side quests- any of those things, this is a game you should consider purchasing. I follow the dev on twitter since playing the game and there is a sequel on the way, so if you do pick it up, I don't think you'll be regretting it. for $20 it's a steal, and when it's on sale for $10 it's a no-briainer. I have many more hours left in me to enjoy

* side note- I havent fully interacted with how the game plays out by not siding with a faction so I don't exactly know how deep going solo goes or the benefits it may have

played less than 90 minutes and saw a white girl say the n word and somebody make a swastika out of condiment bottles

so far it's almost like a mix of legend of zelda and kingdom heart's but if it was made by one really passionate person

The worst things about the game are not actually about the game. All the horrible microtransactions (that aren't necessary at all, but are insanely predatory) on top of the already high price is pretty absurd- the one save file, absurd- the cheat detection preventing people from hosting a save or using LInux, honestly detestable, HOWEVER!!!

The game is super fun. Like, it's really really fun. It's very faithful to the original, but with much better pacing (so far). Tbh if you never played the first game, even for just a little while, I would recommend you play that instead, especially while this game is having performance issues (EDIT: I get roughly 55-60 fps in wilderness, in city it's 50fps with stutters down to 30fps, specs are ryzen 7 7800x3d, radeon 7800xt, 32gb ddr5 ram, windows 11, playing on all highest settings, FSR off, motion blur off) and while Capcom sort out whether or not they want to change their microtransaction situation (they won't)

If you are going to entirely ignore microtransactions AND you have a pretty powerful PC, go for it, otherwise, there's a perfectly solid game in the prequel that many many people never even tried out (that you can usually find for $5) and that game runs beautifully on modern hardware

One of the biggest disappointments of all time. Every update strays further from what the players want or care about, no new content, nothing but drip fed cosmetics and grinding. Such a shame because what could've been the perfect monster tamer is there, everything that makes those games endearing and fun is there and possible within the engine itself, but the devs are so hard stuck on pretending this is an MMO that they ruined their reputation with most of their players, and those players ARE NOT going to return. Why would they? There's no new content and all the QOL stuff we've wanted FROM THW BEGINNING will never come.

If Crema makes a sequel there is a near zero chance I even give it a shot, even if the game is perfect, just because of the way they've handled this games dev cycle and ignored their own community that keeps their lights on

Great for platform fighter enthusiasts, bullet hell enthusiasts, and adjacent genre enjoyers. Maybe hard for new players but very satisfying to get the hang of. Current content is great and hopefully the content towards and after release is just as good. A steal for less than $20

Super fun! One of those games you could play with someone you just met and have a good time. Highly recommend!! (and only $10?!?!)

Heroes of Might and Magic overworld mechanics with cool RTS battles that you can also just let auto play. Fun game!
