One of the best DLCs I have played in any game.

This DLC including the 2.0 makes it a whole new game in itself. Story is great as well and poses so many questions towards the player when it comes to who you want to be in your role of V.

Highly recommend.

Lets get this over with.
I am Veteran since D1. I have played the game quite a bit and have seen the lowest of lows (Dark Below) and highest of highs (Taken King and Witch Queen).

This DLC is probably the second worst out of the bunch in my opinion. The hype it got is not deserved whatsoever. Yes, it has its ups. Yes, strand is very cool. Yes, I am glad I bought the DLC. Do I think it was worth 50€? Am I satisfied? Hell no.

The entire story feels rushed. We get new characters, returning characters, the witness as the current manifestation of evil and Bungie managed to not make any of the characters any deeper than a 4 inch pond. The moment were this could have happened was when writing the story. Everything in the story feels like a strand tutorial- it’s pretty annoying. Nimbus- similar problem. He is the guy that was supposed lighten up the mood, crack jokes about calus being obese but in all honesty: it’s not what you want when the apocalypse is taking place at your front door and Osiris is tryna teach you how to use a dark power. Okay so we are just gonna let Megamind do his thing on his triangle ship and not care that the Traveller just used a deathstar canon of light?
This brings me to the issues I have with the plot. It feels very crowded in terms of what a player plays through but at the same time nothing is really happening. You get missions that feel like it’s not important whatsoever. On the other hand we got reintroduced to the veil, something we have had in grimoire cards (old d1 triumph/lore) and we are just as smart. Why are they important? What does the witness have to do with them? Why do we try to stop it? It’s called Lightfall man. I’m fine with losing to an enemy for the first time but at least make me understand what’s happening in the first place. It doesn’t add up. This DLC was supposed answer stuff and not make it feel like a YouTube tutorial on how to use a grappling hook. That’s not a plot.

After this rant about what went wrong, and it is quite a lot in my books, I will have to give my fair share of respect to the design team. Neomuna is absolutely magnificent. Just like witch queen, the atmosphere is very immersive and it makes sense. I am super hyped for the raid cause damn the artworks for it look fantastic. Only tiny bits are a little off but that’s complaining at a very high level. Very well done on that.

What I am not sure about is the new guardian rank and mod system. It is probably too fresh to have a proper opinion on this but I think guardian ranks are okayish although I don’t quite understand why they reset very season. They don’t feel like a guide to new players but rather a version/interpretation of the quest tab.
Mods are very uncreative now which I think is good but this is also an MMO at the same time which is about being a guardian and this kind of robbed the idea of building a set. Simple good- too simple not good. I am leaning towards the side of it being too simple for now.

In conclusion:
The new DLC provides a great location and a very fun new subclass. That being said, it’s missing a key aspect of destiny which is the story. It feels very rushed, unpolished and pretty empty. It lacks character development which is a problem in itself. Characters feel goofy and the vanguard doesn’t seem to care that they basically lost. It doesn’t add up. As a fan of the franchise, buy it for the sake of it and hope that Final shape will uncover why this DLC felt goofy. As a new player- don’t buy it. You are better of with the DLCs that were released beforehand.

And if anyone of Bungie reads this- damn I am so disappointed. The nicest out of 10 rating I could give is a 4.

Just slicing and dicing as if you were Skywalker. Good. Nothing more or less.

Nice story, good designs, interessting plot and pure satisfaction when you finally achieved something you wanted sooo long.

Rocket League is a great game in so many ways. It is fun to play alone, with your friends and worth every penny.
