Early Access Review
Pros:
- Cool atmosphere, for those that like gruesome vibes
- Every run feels different, even when repeating the same objective
- Weapon/Rig customisation is pretty cool to have
- Prestige system is interesting, with the caveat of sometimes making the rig investment pointless until you have a high level
- IF you meet the requirements stated in the system requirements section, the game is pretty stable. No stutters, consistent frames (PC Specs at the end), and no crashes.
- Decent amount of characters with somewhat diverse playlist to them. Each of them have their strengths and things they can't do or do as well, but they overlap enough so that you aren't too limited on what character you choose to level up first.
- Missions are looking thus far pretty cool.
- Maps have a decent size to them, plus for an early early access, not being stuck to 1/2 maps is great.
- Combat can be hard without being impossible.
- Water mechanism is interesting and pretty different from anything I can think of out there, and apparently it's one of people's biggest complaints. I do understand why people might be bothered by it, but most gear is honestly very easy to obtain, plus I believe the character progression is maintained, and water isn't that hard to come by, so you can stack many days without that much effort, allowing you to only play 1 or 2 days a month if you want to.

Cons:
- The system requirements are unrealistically high making people who even have fairly decent specs unable to run or uneasy to buy the game. Now, seems like there will be a demo in October, making it easier to see if you really need a 2080 super to run the game, but if it is true, it is a bit ridiculous.
- Some scenery animations look like low quality gifs at times. Enemy's paths and animations can be scuffed at times. Some stuff in the game still has it's placeholder, temporary icons. Amongst other visual stuff, no big deal tho. Doesn't break the experience, but they are there.
- Movement can feel very off at times. You can only sprint and run forward. You can turn with the mouse, even if sluggishly (hard to tell if intentional or not, but I'd risk to say it is), but A and D key do nothing. Probably also intentional, but I feel like removing control of the character away from the player isn't very great for the experience overall. None of this is game breaking or even that bothersome for that matter, but it is annoying at times.
- Terrain looks cool, but can be a headache to navigate. Clipping through certain parts of the ground, getting stuck in seemingly nothing, or losing momentum while trying to get away and getting stuck running against random stuff without being able to turn properly because of the point above. Most of the time not an issue and can be navigated around, buuut adds to the lack of polishing, which was warned by the devs.
- Enemies can suck at detecting you or be a complete menace, depending on how they slept last night. I still cannot understand how those drones work...

Overall, looks good. Been plenty of fun and still feels like there's much for me to try out from quests to map locations and customisation and character progression. If you make the system requirement cut and the lack of polishing isn't a deal breaker, then I believe the game can be worth it.

I'm aware it is an early access, but I don't believe that makes it free of criticism of the polishing/bug free experience front. In the end when buying a game, we are consumers and not investors putting money on what a game COULD. So not buying a game based of that + what the game will have later is as fair as anything else.

PC Specs:
- RX 7800 XT (16VRAM)
- Ryzen 5 5600X
- 32 GB DDR4 Ram

A pretty good alternative to super smash bros, being even free, actualy one of the free to play games that doesnt look like one in the gameplay. worth at least giving it a try
