Terraria is absolutely wonderful

Terraria might be hard for some people to get into, and certainly needs some assistance from the official wiki page[terraria.wiki.gg] if you are new or even if you have played a few hundred hours, like my 320 hours at the time of this review, for reference, one of my characters that i have completed the game with has 56 hours of play time.

This review is going to be from the view and experience of a user that prefers to play in multiplayer, as i have never fully completed a single player save, and from the view and experience of a user that prefers to play in expert mode.

The early game starts out perfectly, leaving you explore and try out combat instantly, the guide NPC has a bow that can help you with dealing damage to enemies if you feel a little overwhelmed at the very few beginning minutes, but don't depend on him for longer than those few minutes, try to craft or find new weapons, armor and accessories quickly, as a quick hint i will mention that these items can drop or be crafted with a random modifier that shows up as the first word on an item's name, as well as its effects listed when this weapon/tool is selected in the inventory view, you can try to craft an early wooden weapon until you get an effect you like to help you with damage, if you get a new weapon, it can be nice to look up its best effect on the wiki(even more so after you get a certain npc that can help with these effects), this part of the review is also a decent chance to mention that Terraria has multiple main types of damage, Melee, Ranged, Magic and Summon, but trying to stick to a class in the early game may not be optimal depending on what you find, don't be afraid to use weapons of the multiple types together in the early game, i would even recommend that you get used to switching weapons depending on what targets you engage.

The first bossfight can be either the Eye of Ctulhu or King Slime, depending on if you get and the slime rain first and complete the condition for its spawn during the event(kill.), or if you match the conditions for the Eye of Ctulhu to spawn naturally, or if you find and use a certain item.
I won't go in depth on the following bossfights, but i will mention that the game enters Hardmode once you beat the Wall of Flesh, this will change what enemies you fight and basically rebalance the world to make it feel like early game again, also a certain thing can happen at any random night randomly, always get ready with new weapons, tools and armor, don't be ashamed to look up class guides on the wiki or on youtube.

Because i play multiplayer on Expert, the difficulty bosses and events will scale with the number of players, because of this i feel like the distinction between the game's classes gets even more noticeable, i play melee so this means i tend to have the most defense and i can choose to be even more defensive if i wish to with armors and accessories, my ranger friend has decent armor, and my magic friend has very little, even more so if running a build that maximizes damage, and with some accessories that can drag agro to you or away from you, we try to make the AI prioritize me as i tank or dodge damage while not doing the most damage, your mage friend will love being able to fight without being targeted by much of the fire.

The progression feels amazing, i never feel too strong or too weak while progressing, fighting a boss you have fought 10 hours ago can really show that you have progressed significantly, while the next stage of progression still feels challenging but never impossible.

The end of the game might feel a little sudden, but there is a little bit of progression if you want the best stuff the game has to offer.

Also to add onto the part where i mentioned the NPC that can help with weapon effects, prepare to be spending a lot of platinum coins lmao.

This game is definitely an experience that you should try someday, researching what to do and figuring out stuff at the same time feels very rewarding, and working towards a goal, like a set of armor that you want, feels really good to get close to and complete.

There is also an entire modding community that i have never explored that can offer so much more, i have considered trying out the calamity mod for example, i'm sure that the modding community can add many more hundreds of hours of content that still feels new.

I really recommend the experience that this game offers, and i firmly believe that this game is truly unique in the way it feels, plays and in the way it has evolved so far.

This is a very good remake of the events of HL1, the new details of Black Mesa and the zen segment are incredibly well made, definitely play this if you liked HL1

This game can be quite short to complete if you figure out the puzzles early or look up a tutorial
The art is quite adorable and the artbook is nice to keep as well, partly also because of the pancake recipe.

The levels aren't overly hard and picking the wrong option when trying to romance a demon isn't very punishing besides making you complete the level again, the Judgement fight is a bit hard at the last 2 stages but it shouldn't keep you trying for more than half an hour, the easter eggs are also nice to go thru, the time showed in the review at this time is how long it took me to 100% the game

Overall this is a very fun, short, experience

Some of the game mechanics might seem confusing for new ppl, and multitasking units can be difficult, but it is still fun to play even if you're playing with friends against AI and never go PvP, the DLCs add prettty good units to the game, i like Finland and Yugoslavia the most out of the DLC nations.
If u want a game u can mess around in with friends this can be it.

Quite fun to play in sandbox when you are bored, science and career mode are fun too when you figure out how to build things that work well with the limited parts and/or funds.

I am yet to plant a flag on every planet/moon i can tho, but i will surely get to that in the future.

For anyone looking for a game that is quick to get into, this isn't it, there are a lot of keybinds that many people may not like or that are just simply not mapped, one of the first things to do in this game is spend quite a while mapping everything u think u need.
But if u're specifically looking for a game with a learning curve that suddenly goes sky-high, this is it.

Before i get into everything i think it is important to note that to get the full Elite Dangerous experience you NEED the horizons season pass, since it is like half the game, including planetary landing (only on planets with no atmosphere for now tho)

The game's lore is also somewhat shy, it won't jump in your face, but with update 3.3 tho, that added the "codex", it reveals the most important parts of the game story to everyone in pages that are even voice acted if u want to listen to them while flying around, but there are still lots of lore "hidden" around, like the fate of CMDR Jameson from the original games.

One downside of the game is that there is either a lack of tools or inadequate tools, for example if you decide to be a trader you will still find urself looking at eddb.io or inara.cz to check the best price you can buy something and the best price to sell at a different station. Simmilarly if u're a miner, finding a good syetem to mine in and a good system to sell your ressources in.

Going back to mining, 3.3 added one of the most fun and meticulous game mechanics, deep core mining.
Deep core mining, for short, is blowing up asteroids that have cracks in them to expose the materials inside the core, always fun when u see one explode, don't get too close tho, it can easly disable your shields and even cause hull damage.

The new exploration mechanics are extremely nice too, you can finaly find features on a planet without having to check every inch of a planet to find something, there is now a tool for that, the new detailed surface scanner that now fires drones to a planet to scan it.

Progression in this game can be hard, the Sidewinder, the ship that every CMDR gets at the beginning of the game, is the smallest ship in the game that is not a ship-launched fighter, the ships are split in 3 sizes, Small, Medium and Large, whose landing pads correspond S, M and L letters respectively, but multiple classes, Cargo/Trading ships,Tourism ships, Combat ships, Exploration ships, and Multipurpose ships (that can do each of the other specializations to a degree). the cost of some of the ships can be something that discourages most people, but by the time you get yourself a good medium ship like the Krait (either one of the two, Krait phantom and Krait mk2), Python, Fer-de-lance and other few ships, the game gets quite fun, medium ships for a lot of people being considered the most fun.

Exploring the other two intelligent species in the universe we know of, the Guardians and the Thargoids, can be quite fun, be careful of the Thargoids tho, we're in some kind of undeclared war and many systems have been attacked, stations asking CMDRs to evacuate their surviving inhabitants to evacuation megaships, and then asking for materials to start repairing, this takes a long time, a large number of stations are still damaged, and fighting thargoid swarms need special weapons like Anti-Xeno weapons or weapons based on Guardian technology.

I won't be noting everything you can do in the game since there is quite a lot of stuff that i can not describe in full, the game is very diverse and the mixed reviews are mostly because of how hard it is to get into the game and the lack of certain tools that can be considered something that should be integrated into the game.

Overall i think this game is one of the best space games and definitely worth getting into, even more so if you see this game on sale.
