This game brings back old memories. I remember playing this game sometime around 2003 on PC with a configuration that could barely support this game it and I'm so glad the developers decided to remaster this for a current gen PC. This game is quite relevant in 2021.

While the story, parts of gameplay and overall game feel is identical to the 2003 version, the graphics enhancement makes this game better.

There's not much to say, IGNs review is spot on but here are the things I wish they had in comparison to the 2003 version of the game:

1. Free Roam
We didn't need a separate "Free Roam" option in the menu. Mafia 2 does this better adapted from a GTA
style of open world experience.
2. Public Transport
The older Mafia (2003) allowed players to use the Public Transport System i.e Trams and Trains this version
does not. I wonder why. It doesn't seem that hard TBH. One of the reasons why I loved the old game was it
was a good way to get away from the cops. Hope the developers do that soon.
3. Gameplay Enhancements
In the very first mission when you're in the taxi being hunted by rival mobsters; the game gives you
options to tactically lure those in pursuit onto obstacles that are scripted to make them crash and help you
evade. I've seen something like this on Need for Speed Hot Pursuit where you can drive through a
construction site and the debris creates an obstacle for anyone behind. I wish that continued after the first
mission / chapter but unfortunately they don't. When you are in pursuit you will find it hard to evade the
cops unless you run away.
