I played this a little bit back during launch, forgot about the game, then recently heard about teh zmobies mode and wanted to try it out,

I have spent 3 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours trying to get the game to stop crashing on the loading screen for the main menu and I have failed at every step. I've gone through every fix posted online, and there were two YEARS of this exact issue to go through. Not a single thing worked for me, and based on what I found, there's a large number of folks out there that *also* just never figured this out.

There's no reason for a 3 year old game to be this garbage at *starting*

I like pretty much everything about this game. Movement feels appropriate regardless of whether you're walking, skating, or a meth jump. Shooting feels nice at close to medium ranges, tho anything long range feels like you're just plinking against the enemy, and the progressions system for each mech class is grindy, but not overly so, as I got to t4 mechs in about 3 weeks of casual play. Weapon types aren't exactly the most *inspired* choices, but most of them feel good to shoot and I've gotten kills/been killed by every weapon (except the sniper). The hero shooter aspect, the pilots, doesn't feel out of place at all in the game, and they honestly feel well balanced. And of course, the fact you can fashion your mech is always a nice touch.

This game basically filled the void I've been looking to fill ever since HAWKEN died and it was fun for a while, but you might have seen this is a negative review. This brings me to the two major issues:

Player population and dev abandonment.

The game hasn't seen an update since December 2022. When I first launched it, I saw the christmas update and thought "wow, neat, the game JUST had an update :D" before I realized a week later that it said 2022, not 2023. There's been no word from the devs on any platform I can find them on, making it unlikely this game will get an update ever again, and it ties into the issue I'll get to last that's finally making me leave a review.

Player population is low. I mean, *stupid* low. I mean, for most of January and December, there was a 90% chance that the only reason *anyone* showed up online for this game on steamcharts or elsewhere was because *I* would drag people into it with me for an hour or 3.

That's... that's not a good thing. And that's not something a game can ever really come back from without a massive ad campaign and work from devs, which brings me to my final point:

The game no longer even makes it to the main menu. I've tried for just under 2 weeks now, on my machine, on a machine with a fresh install, on a friend's PC across town, and I even got an Australian to install it and try to play it, and in none of those attempts did we get anything but an Authentication Error message after loading into the main menu for 5 minutes,
Prior to this, I was willing to give this game a "meh-but slightly positive" review, simply because at least the bot matches were fun to burn 20-40 minutes of time, but now it can't even do that.

In summary: It's a game I wish still had a dev team attached to it because it's almost everything I miss about HAWKEN, but it's been fully abandoned and is finally in its last death throes.

Early Access Review
Only played the PvE mode, was real fun with friends, was pretty good with just random matchmaking, too. Solid game, guns feel good, the bayou man and his throwing axes should not be upgraded to explosives if you're like me and will panic yeet the throwing axe at a mob 3 feet in front of you

It's fine.
Kinda dead, esp. at lower ranks, but once you hit like... diamond? You get the occasional player match, and those are pretty fun. Mechas feel good to pilot, nice and weighty, with heft to their weapons. Pilot combat isn't bad, deformed car and party jeep are the way to go tho.

Gacha is atrocious, but it's all cosmetic, so it's not like its p2w or anything. There's a good bit of grind, enough that if you only play casually, you have to make the conscious choice between a new mech or a new pilot, but it's not *too* bad.

Play with friends, enjoy the mech fights, and watch out for one of Them in your matches.
You'll know who I mean if you play enough.

It's got the ruins of a city (neat)
It's got the big 3 biomes and a harsh wasteland between them (also neat)
It's got defense objectives that'll kill your gigas if you're too cocky (quite neat)
It brings back open-world bosses in the form of the three Titans (extremely neat)
it has meteor showers that encourage you to either live inside the remaining barriers, or get yourself a very secure spot in the Wastes lest you get a giant rock yeeted at your face (real neat)
It has homicidal owls and ice beam giant ferrets on meth that hate you (I live in fear, but still neat)

It's a good time

This game took everything that was good about TERA, stripped it out, and gave us a husk of a game that's just kinda mind-numbing with a worse drop rate than Skyscale stuff in GW2.
It just makes me miss TERA tbh

I bought this game in 2006 and fell in love with it then. I've done replays so often that I think I've memorized the maps, the dialogue, the direction of weapons fire, everything, and I still come back to it.
The disc I had this on originally can't be read anymore, it's seen so much use, but I still have it in it's case on a shelf.

Actual review: Absolutely lovely squad shooter set during the Clone Wars with squad AI smarter than human team mates in warframe or destiny. Gunplay feels nice, weapon variety doesn't overwhelm, and enemy AI makes you see droids as a threat.

Easy 11/10.

I sank over 130 hours into one campaign, reached the final fight, and realized I was 2 levels below where i needed to be because I had forgotten to explore an entire half of the island in Act 3.

Getting ready to do a co-op run with someone brand new to it and I can't wait for another 100 hours of this.

I've waited 13 years to finish the fight, and now I can. Fantastic port.
