Ruiner is a top down shooter set in a well realised stylised cyberpunk world.

Most of your time will be spent within industrial complexes, a series of narrow paths connecting open areas where the majority of the combat takes place.

The combat is wonderful to behold due to a combination of tight controls, surprisingly difficult encounters (depending on difficulty setting of course) and the wonderful visuals. The visual/sound effects very effectively sell the weight and power of the weapons and abilities in use and make combat very satisfying.

The music is very effective at building the mood between combat areas, and great at getting the blood pumping in action sequences.

Ruiner is a small game, which is a shame. There is a city hub between the major mission sections of the game and the developers have done a fantastic job of making a lively and moody isometric cyberpunk sprawl, complete with characters. Unfortunately, you dont spend a lot of time in this area and there is only the one hub. Ruiner gives you a taste of the wonderful world they have crafted but I wanted to delve into it more. It would have been nice to have more than one hub, allow the player to explore more visually distict areas, Ruiner is saturated in red, but it might have been nice to see some neon.

Overall I very much enjoyed the game however, it is clear that they went for quality not quanity and what they have is polished to a mirror shine. I should also note that this game manages to look beautiful and runs like a dream. No issues with optimisation here.

I am hopeful to see DLC or a future game explore this world further. The game is an easy 10/10!
