REVIEW UPDATE: The Dev's response below (combined with late night boredom) convinced me to try this game again, and the changes that have been made make the game so much more enjoyable and playable. The game far better channels the wacky, explosion-and-violence-heavy gameplay that was promised. Below, I re-address my original points.

+ Still a good amount of effort put into this game, and still props for taking a shot!

+ Movement feels WAY better, and is a lot more fun. The only issue is that jumping can feel very odd, as you more or less retain your full range of motion in the air. It's a little strange, and makes the rare platforming level tricky to handle at first. Still, DRASTIC improvement.

~ I did not notice much had changed with maps, although the one time I was on the cemetery level I had issues with previously, I was so whacked out on a random pill that I could just float. Good map randomization, improvement appreciated!

+ The Weak Pistol tuneup feels SO nice, and you aren't as reliant on your first drops to either suffer or succeed. Enemies still have a lot of health, but it's really hard to tell once you've hit the SHOP and can cheese some strats.

- One minus for the Shop in particular is that it is very large, and very randomly laid out.
Perhaps a system where each pill, positive and negative are across from one another?

Overall, this game has improved greatly, and it's a testament to the developer for committing to improving the game rather than just dumping it on the store as an asset flip, taking what cash they can, and doing it again. TGGMT is a fun little game dedicated to its core gameplay of silly run and gun shooting. I got this game for free, and after these changes, I kinda wish I had paid a little something for it. It's no $10 indie game, no doubt about that, but it's a good waste of that leftover Steam Trading card cash.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

Someone made an effort with this game. I can appreciate that at least. The sound design is interesting, and the concept has some cool stuff that can be done with it. I also like the cheeky writing style in the descriptions of things, and the snark evident in the piece. Props to taking a shot at it.

However, this game needs a fair bit of polish and balancing. The movement is very uncomfortable. It feels like a hippie version of a grid, where you don't THINK you're bound to set positions, but a quick tap of the keys in either direction reveals that you only have so many places to go on the map.

And the map. Maybe it was bad luck, or maybe destiny, but I got spawned into a graveyard level twice (out of the 4-5 I tried). The pathways were narrow and you had to be JUST right to get through the gaps in the fences, or else you got stuck and were easy pickings for the hordes of enemies that just wanted to keep the Multiverse from you.

Those enemies transcend the concept of bullet sponge. Your "weak pistol" lives up to its name, taking far too many shots to down even a basic enemy, and you aren't faced with just one, or two, or even 5. The "fun" guns you pick up are there, but depending on the weapon, it can go on cooldown after only a few shots (and a few kills if you're lucky), leaving you with your spit-ball cannon until it decides to stop smoking. While you wait, you have to kite the enemies, getting stuck on walls, destroyed or destroyable terrain, or enemies that don't give a single fart about your small gun.

I got this game for free, and I'd say I didn't get my money's worth. There are some solid bones here, and I think the game could be quite fun. There's a niche for a cheap, low-graphics, cheeky shootemup roguelike, and I think with some tweaking, this could get there. But the gross-feeling movement, unsatisfying default loadout, and bullet juggernaut enemies leave a lot to be desired; and I cannot recommend anyone pay more than a dollar for the game as it is now. It's just too clunky for its own good.

Should I hear this gets reformulated, I'd be very happy to come back and give this a try.
