After putting this many hours into ATLAS I can honestly say, I've had fun.

But that doesn't mean that this is a good game, it's quite the opposite, it's a complete mess and that's coming from someone that's played hundreds of EA games and liked 90% of them.

I played of official EU PVE, I didn't have to deal with the chinese raids, But I did have to deal with huge corporations that claimed large parts of the very few "hospitable" islands around. That was almost enough to push me away from the game then, being about 50 hours in, we kept sailing, we found a place to settle, after losing 4 ships to gamebreaking bugs and trolls in PVE.

That place wasn't hospitable, it was living hell, 3 alpha giant snakes, 2 alpha wolves and always at least 1 alpha Crocodile haunted our shores, where the water was too deep to even build defenses around our tiny little sloops, much less our hard earned schooner.

We decided to move back, and fight with tooth and nail for any territory we could in a hospitable area, the only place we were able to get was a tiny little rock, far from the coast of one island.

We build it up, decently set up, able to build ships, but then we ran into another bug, Animals tend to clip through ceilings and cliff foundations, making it so they fall through into the shark and manta ray infested waters. meaning they would almost always die while we were offline.

That is what this game is in its current state, A mess, a big annoying trash heap of a mess that an EA tag cannot hide.

I won't deny, with a lot of work, this game could become great, but I really do doubt it'll ever be, after how release went and the current bugs in the game, it'll most likely be abandoned within the year, or still be completely broken when "fully released".

I gotta say, this is probably one of the best games that I've ever played, and I have played a lot of games, it's not just fantastically made, it draws you in, and keeps you there. I haven't even had the chance to finish it yet, because I keep drifting of the quest paths to explore something I see in the distance or jump off the horse to go kill some amazingly detailed monster.

15/10

This game is probably one of my most favorite games ever, you rely on others for support both on other ships on your team and on your ship, where everyone serves a specific role and place, it's difficult to master, but when you have a good crew and a good team with you, your chances fo winning increases by 50% at least. That victory Is probably one of the sweetest things I've experienced thorugh gaming. especially in the bigger more heated battles, where you're on the verge of blowing up but then your engineer fixes your hull just as the gunner burns the other ship to oblivion, while the pilot is avoiding cliffs he could crash into. out of possible 10 i'd give this game a 15.

so my list goes like this:
pros
  • possibly the greatest team based game I'll ever play.
  • no PtW
  • good grafics
  • brings you closer to others.
    cons
  • some ship layouts are still too over powered, but with the right crew and a good layout of your own, can be overcome.
