The game copies the run progression more or less whole cloth from Slay the Spire. It's an enjoyable formula, but highly unoriginal.

As an homage to the Megaman Battle Network series it really falls short. Exploring the net in MMBN was tedious at times, but nice. This game only has combat. Furthermore, despite its focus on MMBN-style combat, the devs made the choice to give you completely random hands of spells (chips) rather than letting you choose from a selection. You have no control over order, and thus no way to execute consistent combos. This forms the entirety of deep MMBN gameplay, leaving One Step From Eden feeling incredibly shallow.

Hollow Knight is a traditional Metroidvania with a silent protagonist and a decaying civilization full of lost knowledge.

I can't think of one thing that disappoints me about this game. It's got tight gameplay, a visually stunning world, excellent music, and wonderfully written characters. I'd recommend this game to absolutely anybody.

Easily GOTY 2017.

Excellent puzzles and atmosphere. All a game like this needs.

Average mechanics combined with a bad story and worse voice acting. If they removed the voice acting and just sprinkled story hints throughout the levels (as so many great puzzle games have done) this might be salvageable. Skip it.

This game has so many layers and about 100 systems. There's a complexity here that's almost comedic. Scott Cawthon's artstyle is incredibly unique and provides the game with stunning visuals.

It's badly made, overly generic, and most importantly, it's just not fun. At all.
