Freedom, liberty, prosperity, and freedom. Don't just sacrifice yourself for Super Earth, but give your life for it. Defend our way of life, defend our home, defend Democracy. Give democracy to those less fortunate, through the barrel of a 380mm orbital cannon barrage, or a 500kg bomb dropped directly on the heart of fascism. Give the enemy a taste of freedom, in a hot mushroom cloud of democracy. Give your friends a taste of freedom, in a hot mushroom cloud of democracy. I fight for Super Earth. Do you?

It's really hard to explain that sinking feeling of knowing you're going too fast to control yourself, but you can't stop because if you do you will die instantly. Both you and Peppino endure this horrifying feeling for every explosively unhinged second of this game, and yet I would do it all again. It really was pizza time.

Lifeless Planet is unfortunately a game thay lived up to its title. Lifeless. Dull. Uninteresting. Which is quite a shame, as it looked very promising all the way up to the second fourth of the story. After that, the puzzles start to feel repetitive, the platforming gets mind numbing, and the story falls on its face. Honestly, the story was the most damning part. Specifically, it tripped on its boring plot twist and landed on its face in an anticlimactic ending that felt unfulfilling. If I can give this game points, the story up until the plot twist/villain reveal was amazing. They knew how to set up everything. Which is exactly why the mediocreness the rest of the game displayed makes this game feel unfulfilling. It created a mysterious and scary atmosphere splendidly. It felt open when it needed to and claustrophobic at the right moments. But then it feels like they tacked on everything afterwards almost like an afterthought. It also doesn't really have any replayability for such a short game. I finished the story in 6 hours! This game wasn't awful, but it was very unsatisfying.

FTL, or Faster Than Light, is strategy game in every aspect. And that's what puts it up above some strategy games of today. Along with easy to learn, but hard to master controls, music that is masterfully crafted, and a ship progression system that urges you to level a ship in many different ways for greater results, the game has decisions at every corner! Along with the standard choice box (Oh hey, do the thing this way, or do it this way, and see what happens), the in game choices you make in battle are equally as important. That ship you just destroyed gave you lots of materials, but was it worth taking that missile to the face? Along with that, the scenarios are well written and give you a sense of urge to take risks! Or not. With a boat load of ships to command, a whole crowd of races with different advantages and disadvantages, a multitude of weapons and drones to arm yourself to the teeth with, it's up to you to make the right choices as a captain to get you and your crew to the end. And with increasing difficulty modes, that end goal just became MUCH harder to achieve. It does have it's flaws, though. The backgrounds and art, while beautiful, are stagnant. This dulls the game a bit in an aspect. While the great planet is behind you, it all feels dead. Having randomly generated maps feels nice, but apart from stars too close for comfort, colorful planets, and eerie nebulas, the whole game can feel very repetitive. This is a bit of an issiue when you play through it a lot. Things become a blur of clicking and you don't feel like you are immersed in the game anymore. Combat is interesting, but it's a bit slow to start. All in all, I would recommend this game to anyone specifically interested in what it is, a ship based combat RPG.
