A very early access posing itself as a finished product. So we were shamelessly lied to for quite some time.
Perfomance is half as good as in the horizons on same settings (30fps from 60 in best case).
New planets look better, sometimes much worse. Atmo and skies are very beautiful, but be prepared for single digit fps near settlements since they forgot to employ occlusion culling. Very jarring when it works, literally unplayable when it doesnt, since you are expected to play a very basic fps combat game in such conditions.
Visually textures look much better, but they crewed up with gamma and lighting, everything is super dark. But in some conditions it lets objects to popout more (a milky way popping out from the horizon when you are on a darkside surface of the planet or sun glaring from behind it when in high orbit 11/10)
Alongside with perfomance the background simulation and server side perfomance took a major hit: disconects for a wide variety of reasons are common, mission and trading/inventory bugs. I also heard console version of horizons was shafted so hard the community there bleeds its member like Germans in Stalingrad.
When bugs hit, they hit hard since mostly they affect not perfomance but your missions objective and already accumulated wealth. Time wasted is money not earned, and in some cases even money forcibly taken.
The worst bug i experienced was losing my dangerous crewmember i trained from harmless during a thargoid interceptor fight despite paying insurance. He just didnt respawn. Now im stuck with a harmless one, and he even refused to rank up untill i switched back to horizons.
But wait, there's more! The new UI is much worse than the old one, time and button presses spent is tripled and quadrupled, some design decisions make me wonder if the devs ever used old menus. the new galaxy/system screen gives even less info to the player while taking much longer to load (you cant even check if a fleet carrier will allow you to dock without going to a 3rd party website!), new outfitting screen is split into 3 categories, 2 of which do the same thing and storage is separated from viewing the current loadout, so you cant swap an existing module for one in storage without going into the storage section. Also selling things by accident instead of storing is easier than ever. Have fun going back and forth in that mess! All those issues and more indicate at the very unstable and unpolished UI, and that is just outrageous.
In the end the only redeeming thing in this DLC atm is flying in atmospheres, everything else is unfinished, objectively worse than Horizons or outright broken. Also, Armstrong Moment™.
2/10 would get Elite rank in staring at cacti.

Very good and relaxing with friends, hours fly by without notice. Story quests are interesting and long, but the in universe lore goes over your head cuz its delivered with notes and dialogue texts mid mission or even combat.
Kinda sorta playable solo, but its a struggle.
The chance of getting ganked for your cargo is real and keeps you on your toes, but you are more likely to get raided by players not for loot but for fun. Egh.
Souldraining if you dont enjoy chilling on the waves and if you farm for the sake of farming unlockables, for there are only cosmetics and they get very expensive. You could say there's no meaningful item progression, you have the very same tools and equipment at the end as you did at the start; its session based so all your loot and ship supplies as well as your whole inventory of consumables is wiped on leaving the session; there is the grind for endgame but its so far away you may get your spirit obliterated by the amount of chests and delivery crates required to get there.
TL;DR get your friends to buy this on sale, dont rush things, enjoy your carribean vacation.

An entry level colony sim. Not very difficult, not complex, rather repetitive once understand it's mechanics. The campaign drip feeds you new buildings and kinda sorta forces you to do different things with them with different environments, wich is good, but it doesnt bring that much variety because mechanic simplicity simply cant do more. The game itself is rather chill and forgiving, but it can be long and slow if you allow it to be.
This game is recomended for those who never played a colony sim and is afraid of starting with a complex one.
People who played more than 2 city/colony sims will find this boring after 6 hours.

This is one of the best co-op games that exist and it has THE best procedurally generated maps in my experience.
On top of that this game has space dwarfs fighting waves of bugs with a multidue of interesting weapons that can be modified the way you like to play with them the most. All 4 classes play very differently and they have different roles, so if you get tired of one class and its weapons you can choose other 3 and experience something new.
And since the last update we have a good and chunky endgame content to sink time into for skins and gamechanging Overclocks that modify guns in unexpected ways.
Also beer.
11/10 would rock stones again

Early Access Review

On a first glance its an arcadey space-sim: fly there and shoot them, then get a piece of story. Well, its not like that.
Its beautiful, very immersive, but people should understand that it's not just an action space-sim with short levels of 3h worth of content. The game is all about the challenge the levels provide on highter difficulties. Each level is a well crafted puzzle on a time limit. You have limited resources. Your opposition is numerous and ruthless. They must die. This will do.
If you arent into repeating the levels multiple times, trying to unravel the way of beating it in the most optimal way, on 3 different difficulties (that change the enemy fleet composition and reinforcements strenght) AND with a challenge of besting the enemy flagship, then this game might not be for you. The enjoyment is in struggle, in besting the superior foe, in enacting the Emperor's edict.
Also this game has a minor fleet management, you got to load out and order around 7 ships (and 3 of them you can pilot) both from cockpit and from tactical view with tactical pause, and this strategy element is fully gamepad supported. You wont succeed on hight difficulty without telling your ships what to do and where to go.
Audio in this game is superb: sound effects are very nice, music keeps your adrenaline hight; you can hear constant fleet chatter giving you their sitrep (their shield/armor status, target status etc. I dont even need to check the hud to tell how well my fleet is doing), battle chatter's done extremely well.
There's a survival mode, that lets you play against waves of enemies of random composition and/or escorts. In this mode a fleet strategy is extremely important, for you cant get replacement capital ships. And i say its simply boring after a while, simply because its not hand crafted. I would rather have 3 hours of art of a game than 50 hours of procedurally generated boredom.
The game is VR capable, it looks awesome in VR. On youtube because i dont have it lol.
Tldr: Buy it if you want a challenge/immersive experience. Each level is very well made, everything placed there for a purpouse. But it is short, very condensed, for some it is repetitive (for me it was around 3h for the first run, i have 11h for 3 runs + survival and i would play more if i wasnt such a weakling to seriously try and get all flagships and beat all levels just with interceptors). Some people despise the idea of playing the same level again, even with vastly different enemies . And did i say that highter difficulties kick your teeth in? I think i just did. Be careful about this purchase (even on sale) if you are looking for deep story/sandbox/on your own pace experience.
PS. The ending was not what i expected. But it was worth it still.

I had a friend once who was afraid of deep waters. After being grabbed by a shark for 3 times he almost broke his keyboard in a surge of panic. What a great game.
