A deeply intriguing, beautifully woven, ever deepening, series of mysteries, oddities and mechanics that has become much of what I think about in any moment I do not spend with it. An excellent evolution of the core world and themes of Cultist Simulator without the stress of spinning plates or taking the time to build up to the late game in any one such run. The writing and artwork are stellar and the pacing has not yet failed to keep me hungry.

Now if only I could find a tincture for that malady...

Fundamentally enjoyable game - new mode is fun, new hero is at least a much better launch than Lifeweaver.

Unfortunately, Blizzard (not really - all the originals left years ago when Activision's Bobby Kotick shoved his hand up their ass like some morbid puppet) can't do anything without some rancid, insane live service pricing model used to milk every last penny out of their audience. Do you want a real ♥♥♥♥, underdeveloped, incredibly dull version of what was promised? Do you want to play what was previously free content for the cost of some incredible indie game? Steer clear!

Overwatch 2 still wears the on-the-surface entertaining skin of Overwatch 1, it's just draped over a milked-dry cash cow.

That which made DOOM 2016 so great and fluid feels so weirdly stripped away here. I'm playing this game for the fighting, not a jumping puzzle every 30 seconds. Most of the aforementioned "puzzles" aren't even intuitive, it's just 'walk around the edge of the area until you see a sneaky climbing wall a Dev's hidden'.

Even the primary combat loop feels.. underwhelming. Flame Belch, Blood Punch and Dashes all feel like entirely unnecessary additions which take away from that pure feeling DOOM 2016 had. That game had a very satisfying flow between just plain shooting, chainsawing an enemy, and glorykilling when low on health. All the new additions really bloat the combat imo, alongside most of the new weapon attachments feeling just a bit ♥♥♥♥ compared to what they replace. The new ice bomb/frag system feels really good to their credit though.

Overall, it mostly just feels like bad DLC to the original DOOM with a campaign that's waaay too short and still manages to get tedious.

Not for the easily nauseated. The combat is great but the forced climbing sections that have equivalent feeling to being tossed through a kaleidoscope really ruin it for me. I can't pull a lever without it suddenly jerking my vision upwards in response. I know it's more "immersive", but nothing takes me out of the game more than making me physically remove my headset every 10 minutes to recover from its sense of "feeling quirky might give you an unskippable fall into a room and send your stomach into orbit".

I never had this same problem with any other VR game, and if there were things that made me feel ill they could be mitigated as they were at least optional (e.g- the climbing in Blade and Sorcery or HHH)
Idk man, I wish I could enjoy this game but it really seems to ignore the years people put into actually working out how to make this kinda thing comfortable

For a game that seems to pride itself on being wacky and creative, everything you do feel pretty on rails. It's all just another "point in the vague direction and click" and it does the rest for you. There aren't really any avenues to do a level any differently than is directly laid out for you. It's quite frankly a let down from everything shown prior. Kicking feels clunky, skateboards seem underutilised and poorly implemented. The best parts of the game are when it breaks from normal combat around the end of a chapter. For some reason littering every level are small puzzles to solve which just feel so painfully out of place after you've just murdered your way through 30 people.
It's trying to take the Superhot/Hotline Miami approach I think- simple mechanics with a steep learning curve, but you feel really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool doing it. Instead, it's made complex mechanics easy to use and in doing so it feels more like you're just mashing buttons in someone else's subpar, very samey action movie. If you like the concept of highly stylised slow mo flippy gun games I'd recommend the much better, and free "Double Action: Boogaloo"

tl;dr: game is boring due to lack of variation and aim compensation almost everywhere.
