The game used to be amazing, a wonderful experience in occult-filled southern swamps where methodical fights against enemy teams and monsters felt tense and exciting. And then they changed the engine, filling it with issues that caused crashes, constant disconnects, UI bugs that would get fixed and return a patch later. They took something beautiful and ruined it. Then came the crossover IP skins and events. It was once amazing, but now it's a husk of what it used to be. If you're looking for the next wannabe Fortnite where every character under the sun is smashed into a bug-filled mess riddled with FOMO battle pass events that never seem to end, well, here's your game.

But for me? I'm out.

I went into this game completely blind, knowing only it was a horror game and the art style. It perfectly scratched the original Playstation itch, replicating everything I loved about classic Resident Evil/Silent Hill gameplay with a story that was drip fed just enough for me to piece all of it together on my own.

The game is nigh perfect. I enjoyed nearly every second of it, and I can't remember a time when I wasn't happy with the experience. The ending was phenomenal, and I cannot put into words how it affected me emotionally. Play it, it's worth every moment the game gives you.

Look this software is a game changer and I cannot recommend it enough. It's not perfect, and has the similar sort of jank that a solo indie dev will have when making a new product. Accept that and you're golden, things are being worked on all the time and the dev listens to feedback and makes changes when people point out issues; so the bits that aren't perfectly polished will be in the future. I've been using this to make thumbnails and it's absolutely fantastic. If you aren't at least trying it out, you should. I look forward to what comes next with the product!

The PC version has some issues when it comes to optimization and performance, sure, I don't think anyone can deny that. At the time of writing, 11 hours in, I only had a handful of these experiences and only one so bad that I thought the game might crash. That's it, that's the bad part.

Do you want a giant world you can explore and get killed in repeatedly? Do you want amazing sound design that makes it feel like the very landscape wants to eject you with its unsettling presence? Do you want to end up trapped in some corner of the map because a cursed chest decided to send you to Hell? Do you want to bunny hop up onto a ledge and fall off to your death because hey... maybe there was a cool item up there? Do you want to get killed? Do you want to get killed?! DO YOU WANT TO GET KILLED?! Because the game is going to. It will not stop.

That guy on a horse? Gonna kill you.
That weird cat-thing? Gonna kill you.
That armored guy with a horn? Gonna kill you with 15 friends.
That creepy squid thing? Gonna kill you.
What the HELL IS THAT?! Gonna kill you.

This game is amazing.

While occasionally frustrating due to the behavior of other players; both on your side and the opposing... it's a lot of fun. Whether you like being scared out of your wits when a stealthy killer grabs you by the shoulder from somewhere you didn't expect, or you want to enjoy running around in circles like an idiot with 4 other people, this game can be equal parts terrifying, campy, or frustrating. It's worth it. Trust me.

This game is incredibly addictive, eagerly dragging you back again and again with a combination of enticing and pointedly paced gameplay and an absolutely amazing set of not one, not two, but three different versions of the soundtrack. A soundtrack that fits it perfectly, and really ends up being the centerpiece of the game. It's hard not to start tapping your toe and bobbing your head in time with the movement of your keys. The boss fights are interesting and varied, the enemies both easy and difficult depending on how well you can pay attention to their tells, and it has so much replayability.

My only, only complaint about the game is that some of the later levels have a lacking bass line, meaning you must watch the pounding heart at the bottom of the screen to keep in time with the beat. This detracts if you lose your beat mid-way because you have to stop watching the /gameplay/ to focus on getting a multiplier back. But it's a small price for such a fun game that gets into your brain with it's catchy music.

I swear Edmund hates fun and does everything he can to make sure the game is as unsatisfyingly broken as possible.

Recommended anyway.

Games like this come around once in a lifetime. I finally get to live vicariously as the goat I'd always wanted to, but never knew about. This game has given both me, and several of my friends, a lifetime of enjoyment.

Normally when I do something ridiculous and break a game, I get angry. Never before have I nearly died laughing playing a game. 10/10 would nearly suffocate from laughter again.
