If the style of play used by Into The Breach is to expand into a wider genre of play, it must both understand what made that game work and iterate on the original in order to bring its own ideas to the table. In this regard, Tyrant's Blessing is a massive success. While it is far from perfect (notably in the game's writing not allowing its characters to shine in the same way as ITB), the central gameplay is well considered and nuanced.
