Early Access Review
It is a slow burn this one, you do indeed spend many hours carefully curating numbers going up but this isn't just a clicker. You'll be fed detailed stats but know that the least deadly weapon genuinely acted as a safety net and you'll be able to tune your evasion to keep the pressure of the boss sliding around the arena towards you.
Yes, it'd benefit from a map, yes you can screw yourself out of resources by unlocking gear that "isn't useful" until it is suddenly the most useful thing and you are glad you got it, yes, you are juggling synergies, but you also are playing a twin stick (or turning on autofire and autoaim and just dodging foes), barely even makes a steam deck work until the very late game, so it'll probably work on nearly anything. Would torment again.

In app purchases many times the cost of the game. Unsuitable for children, and hell I don't want to be advertised things to buy with real money either.

Kinda obsessed with this one, but if I try to offer up an opinion for a new player in the series who has liked strategy games but nothing so beardy. It's a rough one to recommend. Without explanation.

You need to get on a discord, maybe the semi official one, you need to learn how to use tools like the mod inspector and get your head around the incredibly complicated magic system, but if you put the work into it, it dwarves all it's peers for battle depth, yeah, its diplomacy system is essentially the same as the game "Risk", meaning non at all.

But, it brings together so many mythologies and so many systems that it's hard to beat, oh, it looks like ass though, lets get that clear before you even look at a screenshot.

The microtransaction store I was so suspicious of lies disused, and the game is being supported solidly, there are still quirks but the developers have mentioned an awareness of them and claims to be moving to resolve them and the teams are being added at a solid pace. I'd now genuinely consider BB2 over BB1 the superior PC game by a fair margin.

Old review: 12/12/2015: not a recommendation.
They started selling currency as of a recent patch. This is harmful as that currency can be used to gate access to competitions, the fact is, they could change the games economy in a number of ways, addng a real money tap on the back end gives them alot of freedom to slowly tweak things, look what Konami did with 'insurance' in MGSV.

You might say, but it's not objectively dangerous, it's just pretend money used to buy cosmetics, but IAP was not in the game I paid money for, its a feature I never asked for and do not appreciate, they are only suggesting skins will be gated behind "cyan" coins. But you get 1000 for £40 if you get the largest pack 20 for £1.49 with the smallest. 20 cyans gets you one skin for one team, and I imagine, it won't be enough to get a other 'fun features' when they are added later.

I do wish there was a "level thumb" because I do have mixed feelings, the game has a few teething issues with skills not being implimented and the optionality of skills not being in game and a few stupid rule tweajs Cyanide made which are mandatory and unwelcome, but the real sticking point they are already charging £5 a team, they have their ongoing revenue stream to support development, cyan coins are just farming 'whales' for money.

BB1 set a precident which lead to me buying BB2, and they are falling short of my expectations, they might well fall short of yours too.

Quickly over, but It had that property Ecco the Dolphin had where you find yourself holding your breath. Its genius is spent quickly, but genius it is.

Err... Its excellent, but that difficulty curve completely roadblocked me. So let me rewind back to... Say 80% through the game. Its beautiful, it's got excellent music, it's full of well placed jokes and keenly paced combat. Its a MetroVania with a cute Mexican asthetic.

Then a few boss battle show up and... Gosh, what a roadblock. But until then I was grinning from ear to ear. I'm happy to uninstall it, maybe I'll replay the beginning, before stopping again.

Got it in a bundle so i cant fairly comment on financial worth, but its actually rather great. Its smash brothers meets tetris. You are building squares (each colour having a function) the bigger the square the better, you can also beat up things that drop blocks, the other player and other stuff.

Yes it has a campaign which gates off content but to be honest this game is only any good in vs mode because who really cares about beating up an AI? You want to beat up your friends!

Thought provoking, great narrative and tense. Not for faint hearted, and I'm not just talking about fear, this game is legitimately emotive.

Even if you miss the sale this game is epic in scope and rich enough in character that its hard not to recommend, yes its feels like an Elder Scrolls game at times but that's forgiveable when you think of all the content which genuinely does deserve attention.
