(Short review after about 30 hours, will update once finished) Very enjoyable exploration and combat gameplay. Story and dialogues are pretty good too! But presentation of story and quests is pretty barebones. If the dialogue scenes had a more dynamic camera and staging, it would elevate this game by a ton. Still 8/10 from me!

It's a nice singleplayer shooter with very light RPG elements for Terminator fans. Has about 8-10 hours of content without the DLC and adds another 5-6 hours with the DLC. Infiltrator gamemode adds replayability too, and thats how i got to 20 hours.

Per Aspera is a game which I would call an unpolished gem, even though the UI, gameplay, story and graphics seem to be extremely polished at first sight. The deeper you dig in, you notice the little cracks that take away a from the experience as a whole, which doesn't mean that the experience isn't still absolutely amazing!

For example:
The story events have an order issue. This is understandable, since the game has a lot of options to progress through it and different approaches, but it still subtracts from the immersion and characters if they switch from being traumatized and alienated from the player to immediately praising the player for completing a stage

Another gripe I have with the game is that the story ends too quickly after you finish the terraforming process. I understand that it's the whole point of the game to do just that, but I feel like the game would benefit tremendously from another stage or 2 where you deindustrialize a bit. Deconstruct the older structures and move to another stage of the whole colonization effort where other ressources increase in importance and you have to build a civil infrastructure instead of industry, or at least have more focus on colonies and their needs. I really hope something like this will be added in the future in terms of DLC or update.

Another aspect enjoyed greatly by myself and friends is the multiplayer. This is the reason why we even go the game. The multiplayer is a sandboxed game where the goal is to just terraform mars, but everyone has the chance to take care of a different aspect or work together to build something. I am glad that the devs didnt include competitive mechanics in the game. I mean they have the military aspect of the story, so they definitely had the chance to do so. Anyway, it's a great addition, but I feel like it suffers from performance issues. It got so bad that we had to turn down the music and audio, because it was cutting in and out for all of us. Too bad too, since the soundtrack, albeit short, is amazing and helps with the atmosphere

I have played this game for about 31 hours and I still haven't figured out the worker mechanics other than spamming them, upgrading the roads and later spamming hyperloops to decrease load for the roads. I always felt like I don't understand something and I feel like this could be explained better.
The DLC Blue Mars is nice, but I feel like the added ship mechanics are suffering from the same thing. Using the storage mechanics of ports can help with this issue, since you can force specific ressources to be allocated to specific ports, though the "number slider" should really be revisited, since if you want to, lets say, collect food mainly, but still allow some building materials to make the ships in that port be able to build stuff on water, you have to go through all ressources, hold click until its at "10" and then repeat that for all the ports that should have this configuration. Even a "copy configuration" button would help here.

I know I am being extremely nitpicky here and I just want to say that I really enjoyed my time with this game. I would recommend it to anyone who likes ressource, logistics, space management games and also likes a good story and multiplayer.

A really great Zoo Tycoon successor, which brings new features to the table, which enrich the gameplay and the feel of the game. A few animals are buggy and fight each other to the death, even though they are pack animals and I have the right amount. Buuuut all in all, it's a game I can recommend.

Early Access Review
Definitely needs work, but fast load times and uncomplicated friend mechanics make it better than the mod

It's been a long time since I have been this invested in a game. I had played Fallout 3 and 4 previously but never had gotten around to play this. The little stories and the dialogues really do it for me. Your choices feel like they matter more than in the other Fallout games (Can't talk about 1 or 2). The freedom to create your character as you wish and play the game using their skills like speech, barter, repair, medicine, science etc. is great as it was in every Fallout game, though I feel like this game uses more of this roleplaying possibility. Unfortunately I have to add, that this game probably is unplayable without modding it, at least that's what I experienced. The game would constantly crash or have just missing features that are considered standard in every game *cough* sprinting. I personally like a vanilla game with technical patches, stutter removers and sprinting added.
I'm really looking forward to The Outer Worlds.
