The Setting
Set In a distant future dominated by conflict following the collapse of a vast solar empire, you are a Tenno and the power of the Warframes is at your command. Warframe is a fast paced action shooter with a wide array of weapons and characters creating diverse play styles to explore. From the moment you are set free by a mysterous persona known as the Lotus and told to escape the clutches of an militaristic authoritarian faction known as the Grineer you are immersed in a complicated geopolitical landscape which spans from the savage beauty of Earth to the frozen wastes of Pluto. Everyone has an agenda, what is yours?

The Challenges that Await You
Hidden threats and challenges await players who seek them out, scripted boss encounters, world changing events, deadly bounty hunters will impede your exploration. As your understanding about this universe grows, rich story based missions will reveal secrets and hidden dangers you had yet to discover. These missions feature cinematic cut scenes, character development along with new gameplay elements for players to master and put to use against their foes. Warframe features a wide arsenel with hundreds of weapons and dozens of character classes to explore and an expansive drop, crafting and resource system to learn and utilise.

In-depth Systems to Learn and Master
Players can customise their character and weapon power level through a Mod system. Mods are cards with statistical changes that alter or add to the base permamters of the item they are placed in. Mods can be obtained from drops from defeated enemies, through mission rewards or from factions. Mods are reusuable and level up when fused with a resource known as Endo enhancing thier statistical properties even more but at an increased cost of power drain. Being careful with your equipment's limit power is a challenge to be overcome with experience as you try to maximise your potential. With a limited number of Mod slots and a finite Energy Pool available players will have to learn to make sacrifices as they gain a wider collection of Mods to choose from, the rarest and most powerful requiring serious commitment to seek out and obtain.

Continued Development
Since its launch in 2013 Warframe developers Digital Extremes have applied over 22 major updates to the game, and hundreds of smaller content patches and fixes. Adding new environments to explore, new mission types to participate in, new game play mechanics to learn they have continued to challenge themselves by expanding the game into bold new directions but always with a message of continued future commitment to polish and refine the game.

Microtransactions and Trade
As a free to play game it isn't surprising that Warframe has a Market and a Microtransaction currency. What is suprising is how largely fair the system is. The Market place is filled with items that can be purchased immediately with real money via a currency known as Platinum. However blueprints to craft much of this equipment can be purchased with Credits, an in-game currency earned by playing the game. Requiring components or materials available from playing and sometimes coming with a heavy time to craft these Blueprints are a primary source of obtaining new equipment for all players. Most non-craftable purchases are non-essential cosmetic based, or boosters that speed up acquisition of experience and resources. The only outlier seems to be slots for equipment (Weapons, Warframes and Comapions). With a limited number of slots to start with, newer players who put in enough time might find they quickly run out available slots to store equipment. You can always sell equipment you don't care for, but a new player might feel obligated to purchase Platinum to expand their arsenal size. A dedicated player can circumvent this by learning to harness the power of the Player Trade economy, that enables one player to trade Platinum to another player for items or resources. Equipment slots are some of the cheapest purchases available from the Market, making it relatively easy to obtain enough Platinum from trading to purchase more slots. The fact remains though that this Platinum needed to enter the system from the purchase made by another player in the first place. The overall experience of Warframe is not diminished by the Microtransaction system however it may seem unfair or slow for an inexperienced player who has not yet grasped the strength of trading.
