A great game for those seeking an intro to semi-competitive level of Magic. Easy to follow tutorial that teaches new and experienced players about some common mechanics in 2 minutes at most. You even get rewarded for these tutorials with about 2 booster packs worth of gold, as well as a booster for each of the 5 campaign chapters (battles using a preset deck that tells the story of popular planeswalkers in Magic lore).

After getting these cards you are given a starter pack containing enough cards for several decks. If you're new, you can use the "deck wizard" which helps you build a deck around a certain theme (graveyard, aggro, elves, auras, etc) in an easy step-by-step manner (things like "pick 10 early creatures" or "pick 7 aura/buff cards"). More experienced players can, of course, have complete freedom in the builder. The UI and filters in the deckbuilder are a bit messy, not being able to sort for a keyword or name, but are only a minor annoyance. You can save 30 decks as of now.

Now you can play vs easy, medium, or hard ai for 5,10,or 15 gold for winning, or play against other players and win 20 gold for a victory. A daily as well as community quest will also grant you 40-60 gold when completed. This allows purchase of a booster pack (150 gold) every 1-3 days depending on your time available. Another mode which was added due to its popularity in the Magic community is Two-Headed Giant. In this mode you team up with another player in a 2v2 match (Seperate decks but a shared turn and lifepool). A few minor gripes with this is that you can't earn gold, can't play solo vs AI (which for many doesn't matter but it would be nice), and the server issues at times.

When actually in a game, the UI is clean and allows you to easily see abilities and judge the current situation (though there are a few times where I will need to zoom in order to see the P/T of a creature because the dispaly has bugged). If you've played any Duels game before this will be familiar.

Overall, this game is great for anybody who has even considered trying Magic or is trying to fall back in love with the game. It's free and has no Pay-to-Win or locked content for new players (Duels:2015 I'm looking at you), so why not give it a try, it's only a few hours out of your life.
