There is no other military sandbox like Arma, with so many mechanics that combine to create something special.

Combined arms scenarios where you play as a cog in the machine are where the game shines the brightest, in my opinion. Additionally, vehicle combat is a little more in-depth than the average FPS, especially with things like sensors (radar and such) and fire control systems. You can play any kind of game you want, from single player to 100+ people in multiplayer, more casual to super serious, PvP, PvPvE, or PvE, small scale to island-wide large scale, etc.

The base game with all of its content is already pretty vast, and even more so with the ~10 years of mods (which can basically create entirely different games). Getting all the DLC expands the horizons a little further with more content, equipment, and (most importantly, since they are so massive and detailed) maps. Then, they continue to support it way past end-of-life with officially published CDLCs and small improvements/fixes to the platform. You can also just make your own content, in several different ways (like the in-game 3D mission editor, or game modes where you play the role of game master, placing enemies and objectives live).

The game definitely isn't for everyone. It is generally slower paced, janky at times, and has a high learning curve. Performance won't always be the best, and throwing hardware at it won't fix this. For me and many others, these drawbacks are easy to ignore in the face of everything else Arma 3 offers.

As an extra bonus, at this point it works perfectly on Linux with Proton, in my experience. All of my playtime has been on Linux. I don't think any workarounds are needed anymore to match Windows parity. Anticheat works fine (with the Proton BattlEye Runtime installed), and the launcher appears to work now.

UCH is a great party game for four people sitting next each other on a couch, laughing at all the ridiculous situations this game encourages.

Since gameplay is player generated both per game and with player-made levels, it has tons of replayability, especially with different players in the game. This dynamic nature also means that players aren't usually mastering specific levels, which evens the playing field a bit when there are players with different levels of experience. Overall, super fun.

Note: I've mostly played this on other people accounts, so my playtime here is not accurate.

This is the first digital card game I've really gotten into, and I really enjoy it.

The depth of the gameplay is attractive to me. I especially like that losing often feels more like it was caused by misplays rather than being screwed by card draw or other randomness. I haven't played enough, and the game hasn't been out enough, for the meta to be very clear, but it still feels like unusual decks can be viable, which I love.

I prefer the business model of not having to grind for cards, instead just being able to buy single cards for nickles on the market. In addition, being able to play unlimited phantom draft at no extra cost means that I don't really need cards if I don't want to play constructed.

On Linux, this requires Vulkan, eliminating my old laptop from playing it directly, but that isn't a huge concern for me as I rarely every use it, and if I do I rarely play games. It runs excellently for me on my desktop, though, consistently smooth, as expected.

The Remnants of War mini-campaign that is included in this DLC may be the most memorable FPS experience I've ever had. It is short and light on action, which works well with the excellent story telling and attention to detail.

Events (often depicted in flashbacks) unfold by a combination of player actions, narration, and changes to the environment itself. Themes are mature, while mostly avoiding the typical "war is hell" cliches. Diversity in the main characters (a woman and an older man, each underrepresented in games) is used to create believable and compelling dialog, which adds to the already human narrative. Exploration and experimentation are rewarded by revealing additional facets of the story. Attention to small details is creatively employed to preserve continuity, add humor, and make NPCs feel less like unfeeling robots.

Laws of War is worth the price for Remnants of War alone, so the additional content and (free) features are icing on the cake.

In the end, it would not have been possible for me to play this if it weren't for the Linux port. Thanks to VP and BI for making it happen!

Seriously the best controller I've ever used. Can play any game, can customize to be what you want it to be. As soon as you get over the learning curve, it is hard to beat.

A twin stick shooter that is easy to get into and hard to master. The many characters, levels, and bosses provide variety in gameplay. Hook up a few controllers for some exciting local coop!

A space combat strategy rogue-like game. There is a sense of exploration felt due to the environment and the variety of events that can occur, while also having an urgency, brought about by severly limited resources and a deadly fleet pursuing you. The combat is unique and choices feel meaningful. Unlocking new ships adds even more replayability.

Building and managing a prison. I didn't really expect to like it, but it is pretty awesome. Challenging at first (it helps if you learn how to turn off the prisoner flow) but rewarding. You are given a lot of control over everything, allowing a prison to be run however you wish, if you can afford it.

This game is in alpha (with occasional bugs) and receives frequent updates (with new features).

EDIT: Now out of early access, still just as awesome.

Cooperative 3d side scroller. The graphics are great. Controls are smooth and the game supports a gamepad.

This is a good game that becomes a great one if you play with friends, as long as everyone has a sufficient internet connection.

2D stealth awesomeness! Each mission can be tackled with many different playstyles (avoidance, combat, silent takedowns, terror inducing, distracting, and more). The controls are very smooth and it works well with a gamepad.

It sounds cheesy, but it makes you feel like a ninja.

On xbox I only have 2 games where I got all the achievements, this is one of them. JUST GET IT!
