Ashes of the Singularity is a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game that provides a wide variety of satisfying interactions. The action-packed campaign is solid if not a bit overwhelming at first. Nevertheless, once you settle into the deep RTS aspects of the game, with respect to its economy, supply lines, interesting map designs, terrain impact, the oh so elusive quanta, the upgrade tree, and master the advanced units, one emerges from the occasional victories with a real sense of accomplishment. This game has good balance, so don't expect to smoke the varying degrees of AI consistently. It is up to your challenge without being impossible or obnoxious. There are numerous hidden treasures in the form of discovering the relationships between various structures and between various unit types. Well-formed "armies" can wield devastating havoc on AI and human opponents alike. This is a game to sink your teeth into. One that you will learn from for some time.

If you've cut your teeth on StarCraft, Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander you should feel right at home with Ashes Escalation after giving yourself ample time to train up and stop ogling over how good it looks and how smooth the engine devours massive units counts and effects while maintaining 60 fps or better with even modest set ups. This is a game with depth, challenge and great scalability, and also one that authentic RTS players who want their mind to be truly challenged will enjoy for many years to come. online multi-player skirmishes are extremely satisfying to play. Especially when you win. Four (4) Stars!

Planetary Annihilation is a very interesting take on SupCom and TA before it. Vast, with a different interface, it is quite playable.
