Runs like a dream and looks great. The lore is captivating and the story so far has been pretty good.

Truly a masterpiece. The best VR game I've ever played by a mile. Cannot wait to jump back in.

Steep learning curve and highly rewarding if you put the time in.

Still a scrub though, would recommend.

As a long time Final Fantasy fan, I was actually really worried about FFXV since it was pretty poorly received when it released on console last year. That being said, I still wanted to give it a chance. I was lucky enough to receive this game as a gift, but I would have bought it regardless. I can safely say that it would have been worth it. I really enjoyed my time playing through the main story of this game.

There are definitely flaws, and it's not my favourite FF, but I feel like the game delivers where it matters and I really want Square to explore this world further.

Pros:

- Probably the most important pro: This port is great! After seeing the early recommended gpu spec (GTX 1080ti), I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to run the game. However, I'm able to hold a solid 50fps in the open world and over 70fps in other areas on an RX480 on High Settings. Graphics options are abundant and you'll definitely be able to find a happy medium with whatever specs you have.

- Despite it's simplicity, the combat is quite fun and I haven't got bored of it so far.
- For the most part, the voice acting is good. Prompto started out a bit annoying, but I eventually warmed to him.
- The world feels big and there are a lot of sidequests (although they can be a bit repetetive).
- End game content is great so far. I'm currently working my way through the end game dungeons.
- The character interactions between the main group are quite charming. I really enjoyed Noctis' character development too.
- The daemon designs are awesome, especially the bigger ones.
- The music is awesome, as expected of a Final Fantasy game (and Yoko Shimomura composing).

Cons:

- The story has some pacing issues. It starts off slow, which I really liked because it gave me time to explore the world and do hunts and sidequest, but towards the second half of the game the pace ratchets up and the game becomes a lot more linear.
- Cut content. It is clear from playing through the game that there is a lot of cut content. The story is still coherent, but I feel that the uncut story would have cleared up a lot of the confusion and also freed up the second half of the story. That being said, knowing that this game was in development hell for nearly a decade, I'm happy with the overall result.
- Character development for secondary characters. There are some characters that are built up to seem really important that are actually pretty negligable which is a huge shame.
- Sidequests can be quite repetetive, but once you're a high level they're pretty quick.
- The final two chapters (of the main story) were a bit disappointing with regards to their linearity. I was really excited to explore the world in the penultimate chapter but wasn't able to.
- The magic system is absolute pants. You have to craft spells using "Elements" that you absorb from, essentially, magic wells. I ended up never using magic until endgame when fighting the superbosses.
- The Regalia Type-F is awful. You have to land it on a road, and if you crash it, it's game over which is pretty poor design.
- The windows edition includes all the DLC, which is great. But this means that you'll get arguably the best weapon in the game at the very start. Apart from one of the endgame superbosses, I pretty much never stopped using it.
- Pitioss Ruins... you'll know why when you get there in endgame

Despite it's flaws, I have actually had a blase with FFXV. I haven't played the DLC yet, but I'm really looking forward to seeing more with regards to character development for the main group.
