VIking Conquest is by far the best DLC to Warband. It is superior to Bannerlord due to many of its better mechanics/game choices:
- The religion mechanic, you can choose to be Pagan or Christian and raid monasteries, in a way that affects your relations with nobles.
- Spears and polearms are actually useful, and form the majority of the base of combat unlike the sword-centric combat of Bannerlord and Warband.
- A very memorable sound track, perfect for the game and the best in the series.
- The fact it has meaningful sea warfare.
- Better quests and dialogue with NPCs than in Bannerlord (imo), especially more varied quests.
- Actual historic depth and real cultures. Whilst not a perfect 1 to 1 of the cultures of the 7th century British Isles and North Sea, the game does a good job at representing the cultures of the time. There are few games centred on this period and location, so it is very nice to see it covered. The cultures and history of Calradia seems more limited and lacks the depth of actual history, of course.

That said, the DLC does have its drawbacks:
- The sieges are as underwhelming as the rest of Warband; Bannerlord wins on that front.
- The recruitment mechanic is painful; troops are expensive and die quickly.
- The game is much harder than either Native or Bannerlord, so don't go rushing in head first f1 f3.
