Definitely worth an hour or so of your time. Small chill puzzler, would have not been unhappy to have spent money on it.

An almost perfect game at what it's trying to be. I'm not saying everyone will like the game, but any change they could make to the game feels like they'd be making a different game, or more game, rather than a better game. Which is pretty impressive.

10/10 would recommend.

Well. It's got the Dark Souls 'I hate this game so much I'm going to play it til I beat it' thing down great.

I think overall I'd recommend it. But maybe not if you want to do anything but suffer.

Suffering can be fun though.

Maybe.

10/10 Would suffer for a while again.

UI is pretty awful, with lots of waiting for things that feels really bad.

The fights are annoyingly hard to get a good view of, and the monsters are all generic piles of something and shiny. - Not actually sure why the monsters look bad, but I really hate how they look. It's just not interesting. Possibly because of the UI layers over them? I think probably it would be worth having less visual clutter on the mobs and player.

The campaign was quite hard to follow in terms of progressing, and the final boss felt very much like every enemy I'd fought before.

Overall I just found the game quite hard to pay attention to, and when I beat it, I was confused it was over.

Obviously, the game is early access, and thus has lots of potential to improve. Currently I would rate it a lot worse than Slay the Spire, though admittedly that game is leagues ahead of it's competition.

Probably 5/10 at the moment, but enough there to get to 7-8/10.

One thing I forgot actually. The third character was very dissapointing. Built largely around summons, but the summons were much less fun than I hoped for. I think the 'Rebellion' mechanic just felt really bad.

Unfortunately, Monster Slayers is terrible.

I really wanted to like the game. I've played a lot of similar games, and have explored the genre a fair bit, and I think that MS has the unfortunate honour of being the worst.

Firstly, it's very unclear what enemies can/will do. You have no perception of what their deck is, or what they can do in their turn. The animations are not clear enough to properly indicate what has happened, and yet (by default) they are slow enough that you get bored of waiting for the enemy turn. I found I was usually just waiting for their turn to be over and seeing how much health I'd lost.

Secondly, enemy decks are often very frustrating and unfun to play against. A lot of their cards seem to be 'player' cards, which might be fun to play, but are pretty brutal to play against. (see 'Roar', Opponent discards 2 cards, banish this card).

Thirdly, a lot of upgrades you get feel kind of dull and uninteresting. There is none of the variety from other games where you can get fairly game warping effects from items. Most of the items are +1/2 to something, which just feels a bit mediocre.

Companions are an interesting idea, but most of their abilities are not exciting, and don't come up often enough for me to care. I'd prefer a turn based cooldown rather than a combats based one (though that could lead to negative gameplay loops with stalling out combats).

Overall, a lot of the ideas seemed interesting, but not necessarily well executed, and most damning of all, I just really didn't have any fun.

Unique Mechanics, lots to think about, good theming.

Disagree with most comments on price, it's much cheaper than it's competitors from what I can tell.

This game is one of the most elegantly crafted games I've ever played.

I'm not sure I'd say it was a good 'game'. But it's definitely worth playing if you're up for some reading. 10/10 Lore and atmosphere.

10/10 Would recommend to anyone who likes cards, roguelikes, or cards and roguelikes.

Boss design is 9/10, One Boss seems poorly designed (Nemesis) but everything else seems good.

Card Design is 8.5/10. Generally really good, some cards are annoying bad because they seem cool.

Relic Design is 5/10. In general frustrating that you get so many random relics. Picking from a selection would feel much better.

Deleted my saves. And that does matter. So ♥♥♥♥ that. 'Incompatible with this version' - Because apparently not bothering to code in a fix is OK.
