Warframe is a terrific game created by what is essentially an Indie company that still manages to deliver a triple-A gaming experience.

In addition, I really admire Digital Extreme's devs integrity on remaining a fair free-to-play and focusing MTX on cosmetics. In a time where many bigger companies are falling back on "spinning the lootbox" because it generates more revenue, it's very refreshing to meet such upstanding devs that care so much for their playerbase and the health of their game.

Everything in the game can be earned if you play enough. Give it a try, it's free.

Random Crits Are Fair And Balanced.

In all seriousness though, the community servers are where it's at. I hope the first impression of this game isn't a matchmaking server, rampant with hackers, 20 second respawn timers, and no coordination beyond "attack". Ironically, the best of the community are in the community servers.

I'm not sure what the devs were thinking in some of the recent updates. The casual and competitive matchmaking fragmented the playerbase, and the players of competitive matchmaking are at the mercy of hackers, with no way of kicking them or anything.

If you're looking for a good community server, I'd recommend the ones hosted by Skial and No Heroes.

Pros:
>Free
>Old but Australium. A gaming classic.
>Community servers are filled with Sniper mains that will 360 noscope you.
>Dank Memes

Cons:
>Learning Curve is huge
>The dev team is probably just one guy tinkering with the code in the janitor's closet.
>Matchmaking is filled with bots that will 360 noscope you.
>Dank Memes

A beautiful game. It gets everything right, and meets and even exceeds my expectations. The gameplay is relaxing and engaging at the same time. The tempo of the game is just right, and the inclusion of holidays, and monthly festivals really mixes things up; they makes it nigh impossible to fall into monotony. The progression of the game is completely at the hands of the player to complete at his/her leisure. I play mainly FPS games, and I'm just enchanted by this gem of a game.

It's actually really amazing that a SINGLE person developed this entire game. This is the pinnacle of indie games, it can fight toe to toe with a AAA experience, and without the $60+ price tag.

Best $15 a gamer could possibly spend.
If you can't trust me, what I'm saying, or you maybe hate my guts for no specific reason; look no further than the 98% approval rating by the Steam Community.

It's fun to build things. It's also fun to fight with the things you build.

It is not fun to be destroyed by robots that were built with strictly superior blocks that you could not have possibly have had access to as a new player. Also, the presence of expensive special modules vastly tilts the balance towards those who have been grinding for a ridiculously long time, or those who have payed with real life money.

I'm not completely against grind (I play warframe, and I find it pretty enjoyable) but I don't think that the goal of the grind should be to even out the playing field, nor should it be to put yourself in a position where you can stomp new players. I think grinds should be for sidegrades and not strict upgrades. Freejam does a pretty good job of this regarding their common, and rare weaponry, placing them at close costs and allowing for tradeoffs that would make the lower rarity weapon still be useful in their own niches. But it's at the Epic and Legendary rarities that things kind of fall apart. There, may purchase vastly expensive robot pieces that are completely superior in function to previous rarities. Their cost is an inhibiting factor for new players.

I appreciate Freejam's move to remove crates, and I think it will help. However, I think that there is still more to be done. It can be hard sometimes living in the shadow of a greater past, and a lot of the reviews will nag on about that. I think Robocraft is still a very much enjoyable experience, but only after you have deposited a few hundred hours into it. In Robocraft's current state, I would not reccomend the game to new players.
