I found this game to be a very enjoyable game, but only after I forgot it's a kingdom rush. I let it have it's own rythm, pace and difficulty (which can be very steep at points), and what seemed an overly simplified turn based game, ended being a very enjoyable experience.

My recommendation is that you don't play it as a campaign, but as a roguelike. Start runs on the available maps and try to complete every achievement. Achievements don't give rewards, but give a reason to start a new run and do something a little bit different.
