You ever try to read a really good book but sometimes you get a paper cut? That was my experience with this game. Going through an immersive, complex and engaging story but about every hour running into something that distracts you from the experience. Sometimes the camera would give an annoying angles, sometimes the enemy gets in an awkward spot, etc. The list isn't long but has reasons I'm a little disappointed the developers overlooked.

Either way, if you want closure to the story, to unravel the secrets behind the characters and their motives in this game, you'll have to keep pushing forward -- and I'm glad I did. I got to experience the full story (ngl though I had to read into the lore online afterwards to get a full appreciation of it) but also feel as if the execution could have been significantly better. The paper cuts haven't necessarily ruined the experience, but have still deterred from it. At least the book looks really nice (most of the time) and sounds really great too. I think the pros outweigh the cons, but I'm still saddened by the fact the game seems unpolished (not unfinished, just unpolished).

TLDR: If you enjoyed previous Drakengard/Nier games and like their lore, you'll almost certainly like this game. If you're in it for fighting machines, you'll probably like this game. Try to get it at a discount though.
