Cute semi-open world horror game focused on exploration. While providing menacing yet cozy atmosphere of being alone out at night with its cute visuals and detailed enviroments, it might also get frustrating due to high count of player deaths and several pretty tricky puzzles. Good for comfy halloween evenings.

Pyre is a slow game.

During the first days after release, having only played it for several hours, my opinion about it, as well as everyone's i know, who also played it at the time, was certainly negative. There was multiple reasons for that, such as slow pacing of narration, lack of challenge in gameplay and repetitive game structure in form of a Rite cycles. Nonetheless, i decided to take this journey to the very end and see if Pyre would indeed be first Supergiant Games title that i would honestly dislike.

The first thing that i had to get used to is that, for the most part, the game resembles a visual novel more than anything. Though it is much more interactive than visual novels in a traditional sense, it still was more reading than i expected to do, which made the game have rather slow pace. Fortunately, that was exactly what helped to set the right mood. Just like having to wander around aimlessly for many days in a row in Night in the Woods brings upon a certain feel of melancholy, the whole Rite cycle routine builds an immersion of being stuck in Downside along with bunch of exiles- both allies and rivals, with whom you have no choice but to participate in rites to escape the place. That immersion is what helped me to appreciate certain characters, whom i, at first, didn't like or wasn't interested in at all. The game is kind of cruel about keeping the ones you like around: If you like the character, you wish best for them, and if you wish best for them- you liberate them. After that, they regain their freedom and leave, while you stay in exile, which means you don't get to interact with them anymore. I could try keeping them around for longer, but the game is quite vague about the number of exiles you could potentially liberate, so i didn't want to take any chances. And so, during the latter half of the game, i had only such characters left to conduct Rites with, and, eventually, grown attached to them as well.

Around that time i noticed what i think is the greatest accomplishment Supergiants made with this game- how it reflects the choices player makes. When an exile is liberated, both allies and rivals take notice and remember it for the rest of the game; when you go with a team including a character against someone they know they interact both before and during a rite, same goes for when you team up certain characters; going to the same location with the same character over and over again always results in a new line of dialogue etc. Even losing in a rite showdown, willingly or not, doesn't result in traditional "game over" scenario but becomes another step in the journey. They really succeeded in making it YOUR story, especially with the ending, which, while limiting the influence you make on the global outcome of events, illustrates in detail your impact on the fates of everyone you met along the way.

As for the gameplay, though easy and bland at first, the appearance of Titan Stars and necessity to change your team composition as you liberate more exiles eventually led to new gameplay experience, like discovering which talismans and masteries work best and how they alter the flow of the game, which, for me, was quite interesting and, in certain cases, challenging.

All in all, Pyre proved to be yet another Supergiants' great story-oriented game, as usual packed with beautiful visuals and breathtaking soundtrack.

Ever wanted those cool huge-scaled war battles with BIG enemies you see in movies to be made into videogame, but the closest you got was yet another AAA-game with just some cool-looking but non-interactable background action while you're dealing with a maximum of ~10 enemies at once? Look no further!

Alien ships so big it takes a whole minute for them to fall after you shoot them down! Hundreds of enemies on screen simultaneously! (flying ones can literally cover all the visible sky around you) Giant robots sending you flying with their steps! Kill them all while shouting cheesy one-liners or singing inspiring songs along with teammates!

The most fun videogame i've played in quite a while. Sharing this experience with friends makes it 10 times better.

When i first heard about Danganronpa a few years ago, my first thought was "what a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥"- the almighty cyborg teddybear, teenagers killing someone just to keep some secret of theirs and locked down school in a world that suffered the [tragedy] wasn't the most persuasive setting. So i was feeling pretty sceptic when launching it for the first time.

The beginning felt quite overextended, but when the first murder happened, it immediately got my attention.

During the first third of the game i wished for it to be less linear in a form of something like affinity, which lets you affect the characters' behaviour, or some way to explore the school on your own to solve it's mysteries. But later i completely forgot about all that and now understand that it would be pretty hard to tie up those features with existing story.

So yeah, after the slow start it really got me immersed so i couldn't wait too see what's gonna happen next. Besides, the trials have some not obvious solutions and characters are well written.

The music plays a big role in creating the right mood for the moment, and does it well- when ♥♥♥♥ gets real and DESPAIR flows in the air, or when small rays of hope appear ahead, it enhances those emotions just right.

One downside i can think of is interactions during free time being a bit confusing- for example, you cheer the character up, when she is sad, give her the right present, but don't get report card update and skill points in return. This encourages savescumming and looking up the game wiki (big mistake, don't do that). All in all, my claims about Monokuma being unbelievably overpowered and confusing apocalypse still stand up, but boy what a ride that was.

What an experience/10.

A rather overlooked multiplayer FPS, which easily became one of my all-time favorites.

What's great:
+ It does darkness right. When there's no light source- you can't see ♥♥♥♥ for real and at the same time using flashlight/being near any light source would make you an easy target. It feels especially great when weather dynamically changes during online match- imagine sitting behind a rock, defending capture point when all of sudden night goes down and as sudden lightning strike brightens up your surroundings you can see enemy crawling to you through nearby swamp.
+ Above makes co-op missions a thrilling and challenging experience, sometimes on par with actual horror games. Be tactical and watch your step around every corner or get eaten by scary FNAF robots.
+ PvP multiplayer isn't brain-dead running around spray-and-pray like CoD, but rather careful slower-paced advancing on your objective. Most of the maps are quite open so you have to be vary about being seen and at the same time keep your eyes open because enemies don't have huge red marks above them.
+ Gunplay is simple and basic, but solid and fun, rewarding quick reflexes and high accuracy.

What's not so great:
- It's dead.[steamcharts.com] Unless devs do a couple another free week promotions, i don't see it gaining new players.
