Mirror's Edge is a very enjoyable game that is contained in a small package but looks big. Since I first played it, I thought it was something special, but I'll break it down and give a small review for each part of the game.

Gameplay-wise, Mirror's Edge is very solid. The controlls feel responsive, and the amount of moves you have never makes the controls feel too complicated. Each button has a use, and they add up to make the game smoother and allow for new and experienced players to work their way through the game effectively.

The story and settings are very engaging, and the characters were also very nice (especially Faith and Merc). Since the game is on the shorter side, the other characters don't feel as fleshed out as they could be, however. There are some moments in cutscenes and dialogue that give a bit more backstory, but more would have been appreciated. Speaking of the cutscenes, I LOVE the more animated look.

The soundtrack, while not super catchy, is always fitting for the environment. I would say that one in-game level theme and the ending theme really stuck with me.

The biggest problem I had with the game is the combat, more specifically, the gun combat. Enemies take many more hits to kill than you do, especially when you're using melee combat, so situations where you face a lot of enemies at once can get frustrating. In addition, the guns you pick up have very little ammo, and when you're out, you have to pick up a NEW gun instead of using the ammo from one lying around (you have to literally throw away the empty gun and pick up the one on the floor). Melee combat is better, but fairly limited. It doesn't have to be too complicated, but it feels a bit too simple as-is.

Overall, despite it's rather short length and slight problems, Mirror's Edge is one of my favorite games and is very good in general. There's collectables, time trials, and extra time trial-only stages to complete (in addition to online leaderboards) after you beat the game, so there's still things to do. I highly recommend it!
