Good game!

Good game

I saw this kinda copy past review, where you just have to give a “✓ check” for the correct section, whether it being regarding on how many bugs etc there were..
You know, it seemed right, a half arsed review for a half arsed game. But then I remembered something, I am not writing a review for the game. But for YOU, the potential buyer, and you deserve more than a half arsed review to tell you why you should NOT buy this game, under ANY circumstances!

I know you have all heard some stuff about the drama that this dev has been involved with. As a kickstarter backer I will be biased, so if you want the full story, you can google it.
This dev, spent 5 years in the dark, just to come back to kickstarter and tell us that this was build on a lie, that what he asked for “for the kickstarter to be successful” he knew that was too little, yet because he wanted to appeal to the crowd, he set the minimum accept lower than what he needed.

And I am not kidding you, he even had the audacity to state that what we were to think of the game after it being created was irrelevant

September the 7th, 2017 all of the kickstarter backers got a fine little email with the caption “A Personal message to our backers”

Now I don’t have much else to say regarding Maksym Pashanin, but if you want a more general walk through of Maksym Pashanin’s morals look, take a look at this video Where Are They Now? - Maksym Pashanin. Although this video is a bit old now, it does go through some of his background.

Although not much is promised on the steam store, I will go through the different promises one by one, starting with:
The game promises MOBA like controls, well unless attack move + move is the only way you can control your character in a MOBA game, then that is false. Especially concerning some enemies, those depicted in the gif right below this promise. They will dodge out of your bullets, and then fire one bullet themself unless the get hit. I can not say how long I tried to manually dodge while using the attack move to controle when firing, just like they did in the gif. Yet that would not work, the only way to deal with those mobs, is to attack move parallel to the mob, and just let the character shoot and walk by it self. Yes maybe my APM is not high enough, or I am not skilled enough to do that kind of maneuver fast enough, yet it is only the start of my problems with the gameplay.


You cannot force attack none hostile mobs, I can accept that you can not attack or kill civilians especially because they don’t drop coins on death. But why are we limited to trying to walk so that the observer is in between a zombie and you, and then attack move to the zombie to attack them?

There is little to no variation of the looks of the special mobs, although the zombies have 3-5 different looks, the other mobs don’t have this kind of variation. This seems like a designer gone lazy halfway through the design phase.

There is basically no settings in game there is a:

• Sound slider
  
• Music slider
  
• Computer Power slider (wtf?)
  
• Screen resolution
  
• Full screen
  
• Some kind of lock
  
• A clock
  
• And an I

No explanation on what any one of those settings does.
When exiting fullscreen, you cannot interact with the settings menu anymore. In general this is really lacking.

Huh? is there Lore in this game?
The gameplay consists of you mindlessly killing everything in a scenario, and then walking to the exit. There is no indicator whatsoever, about any LORE. Although this is not really a complaint, I just don’t understand why the dev wrote on the steam store page that there was LORE, when there clearly is none.
Besides that, this game does not really need a LORE. I mean, it is not like it would make the gameplay acceptable.

Now credit where credit is due, the game does look gorgeous, no matter if it is that “False2D Application Interface” or just the designers. But as I said before, there needs more variety in the special mobs appearances!

I went into this game with a negative attitude towards kilobyte and the infamous Maksym Pashanina. My attitude has not changed one bit.
This is the bare minimum for what could be called a game, and thus I would NOT recommend it. Not just based my bad experience with the kickstarter, but because this is not something I would waste 8€ on.

tl;dr: I helped to fund the kickstarter, I am therefore biased. The gameplay is lacking, if you can say there is any. There is no LORE in the game, even though it is written on the storepage that there is. The only thing I can say in favor of the game is that it looks gorgeous. Not recommended!

Life is Strange is a story driven, choice based game. It has an amazing story!
Yet I found the execution of the story to be awful at best.

pros:
- Amazing story
- Easy learning curve.

cons:
- Had several cinematics cut the audio, so I was damned thankful for having subtitles on.
- Libsyncking can be hard, but at least make mouth move when they are talking, this is does not apply for every speaking sequence, and I mostly found it to be in Episode 5 where this was problem. But jeez that is just lazy AF...
- For being a graphic novel, the graphics is not that great. I get the style that the author has gone for, but that style can be executed in a higher detail.


Final summation:

I would recommend this game for people who is more focused on the story than the game part of the game. Because I does have an amazing story.

I would not recommend this game if you slightly cared about the game parts of a game, like puzzle solving, graphics etc.

Old game, yet still one of my all time favorit!

Fantastic tool. Yet there are some problems with it when your monitors are drastically different resolutions. I run with a 3840 x 2160 and a 1920 x 1080.. And when hovering over programs in the taskbar then the titels are too large, so they clip in the bottom.
The troubleshooting is unreadable on the 4k monitor, well basically everything is tiny.

Even with these problems it is still an better option than what windows provides.

I have only just played this game though once, but the story, the setting! It is an amazing game, and I can strongly recommend it.

Pros: Fantastic story, a fitting soundtrack.

Cons: there is not enough of it :'(

This game has been in Earlt Access for more than 2 years now. The game creators is working on the game which is good, but IMO this game is never going to get released, even though saying this makes me sad, (this game has huge potential).

So all in all - Don't buy it.

Super Awesome Complicated game!! It's fantastic, with several 100 different research opportunities!!I can definitely recommend this game. Even though it's a little old, it's a clever and amusing game!! (:
