Early Access Review
Fun scavenger survival game in space. Reminds me vaguely of Space Station 13 in some sense of how you can build (or destroy) your ship. Learning to build your ship out and work with the systems is real fun. EG: I relocated ship's temperature sensor into an area which I accidentally isolated from the actual HVAC systems meaning the sensor was in a cold area, triggering the heater to work overtime in the other half of the ship. End result, while I was in an EVA suit outside building a future new room, half my ship became a -275F freezer and half of it became a 1300F oven.

The game's UI is somewhat awkward, its definitely NeoScav's sibling in that regard. Also while it has some rich and complex systems the content in terms of story seems a bit light at the moment (even for a sandbox). However I've still managed to get several dozen hours in, so it still gets a thumbsup from me. Excited to see how the next couple updates change things since the next one is adding long range travel.

Very fun and satisfying, checking a lot of the boxes I love in 4X games. Can't really decide if I would call it a puzzle game or management/builder game. It combines the two types pretty well. This game can be quite challenging, there are quite a few strategic decisions to make and sometimes you just gotta take leaps of faith off imperfect info and hope that space just beyond the current frontier will have the worlds you need to solve the problems you're about to make for yourself. I'm really having to fight against my perfectionist urge to restart after only a few dozen turns because things aren't working out immediately. Sometimes you just gotta go with "half decent" until you can get the pieces you need to fill in the gaps/weaknesses/shortages.

The different races and random perks/techs that you choose from at game start offers a lot of variety in what kind of strategy to aim for and I can see a lot of potentially cool synergistic setups if things happen the right way.

Anyways, game good so far. I'm bad at reviews, but I wanted to leave one for this game cause it doesn't seem to be getting enough attention.

Completely unplayable for me right now. Constant stutters and hitching. Capcom ♥♥♥♥ed up something good with the iceborne patch. No MonHun for me for now I guess. Plenty of other people experiencing similar issues.

Also some people are apparently having their old save files deleted by Iceborne because it can't recognize them. NJ Capcom.

Fix your ♥♥♥♥.

Ok, amazingly Capcom has actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things as far as I can tell.

Their stupid CPU slamming anti-cheat/modding ♥♥♥♥ has been apparently ripped out and performance on my computer has actually gone back to what it was before Iceborne came out. I still get random and cryptically labeled "ERR12" crashes once in a while which sucks, but for the most part things are playable.

Development has ceased. Yet another reminder that Early Access is Buyer Beware. RIP

Early Access Review
As a longtime Submarine game fan, this game has a lot of potential. But right now I think it needs more time in the oven.

I'll ignore the obvious bugs and performance issues (those presumably will get fixed during early access). After 10 hours my biggest frustration with the actual gameplay is that there is too much needless busywork with the crew management. I realize that crew management is one of the major focuses of this game, however, I personally think that this should apply mostly to combat situations and that outside of combat the ship should mostly run itself after I set up a few things at the start of each patrol.

As an example: I shouldn't have to manually stock the cook's larder every time it runs low, the cook should do that (currently you can put multiple food types in the kitchen to get a "varied meals" morale bonus, IMO "varied meals" should be made an On/Off toggle that requires multiple food types and influences consumption rates).

Another example is that I seem to have to manually turn on the air compressors every time the ballast tanks are blown to surface, why can't the crew do this automatically (especially since they'll automatically use the ballast controls if I give an order to dive/surface)? Yes, its dangerous to turn on noisy compressors during combat situations, so maybe don't automatically do it during combat, but it gets annoying to have to do it every time I surface after a routine hydrophone check.

Hell, I have to manually change the lights from white daytime lighting to red night lighting if I want the night time visibility bonus red interior lighting gives. Why doesn't this automatically get done at dusk? If I want the morale bonus of white lighting I can just manually switch it back to white lights.

These are just some of the examples of what I feel are needless busywork. If stuff like this was reduced or mitigated, the game would be much less annoying. For now though I have to recommend giving the game a pass unless stuff like what I just mentioned don't sound like it would bother you. As is it has a LOT of potential, and I hope it improves over the next few months of early access and gives me a reason to turn this thumb around.

I'll probably keep playing it for a little longer, but I'm pretty sure I'm soon going to shelve it and check back in a few months. Because, right now, I just frustratedly find myself wanting to play Silent Hunter 3 or 4 or Cold Waters for my submarine fix instead.

Over four years old and still going strong. The majority of the major Gameplay DLCs are solid hits and the game continues to be one I keep coming back to every once in a while. Its basically "The Sims:Medieval" but on a much grander stage and with more consequences to your actions.

It can be a bit intimidating to get into at first, but just head on over to Tutorial Island (aka Ireland) to learn the ropes and soon you'll be claiming crowns, crushing infidels, launching viking raids, fighting for the Kingdom of Heaven, amassing fortunes as a Doge, and/or plotting to murder Popes, Emperors, Wives, and more.

Rebel Galaxy is a fun, arcadey space game that feels like a mix between Sid Meier's Pirates, Freelancer/WC:Privateer, and Assassin Creed: Black Flag naval boardsides combat combined with a cheesy/awesome Western-Rock soundtrack.

There is a main storyline but you don't really have to follow it that much, you can just go around trading/mining/fighting/exploring, but the meat of the game is in the fighting. Thankfully the fighting is pretty fun. Instead of playing as a fighter or small freighter/gunship like many of these types of open-ended/sandbox space games, you start out in a Corvette and eventually work your way up to larger ships, I believe there is roughly 20 playable ships in all. As has been mentioned, the combat plays something like Assassin's Creed Black Flag ship battles, maneuvering on a 2D plane, with a heavy emphasis on broadsides and positioning. Your ship is outfitted with a main battery of broadside cannons as well as some turrets and secondary weapons (like missile launchers). You can customize the weapons of your ship with stuff like long/short range guns, beam lasers, missile turrets, anti-fighter/missile flak guns, etc etc.

The game is surprisingly colorful and ships explode into big bright fireballs when they die. Its fun. The music, as I've mentioned is cheesey western butt-rock and, IMO, quite nice. However if its not your thing, or if you just get bored of it, the game has an option to put your own music into the game (alongside or replacing the soundtrack). I haven't progressed too far into the main plot, but this doesn't seem like the kind of game most would play for a gripping plot, as its pretty basic so far. Basically your aunt, an (in)famous smuggler and overall space Rogue, sends you a package containing a weird alien artifact and the access codes to one of her old ships and tells you to meet up with her and you go off to get into cool space battles and track her down.

The game is only $20 and so far it seems like a lot of fun for that price.

LuftRausers is basically a really focused arcade game. It doesn't do a lot, but what it does, it does really well. The game plays kind of like Asteroids except there is constant gravity pulling you towards the water. The customizable Rauser is pretty cool. You pick a weapon system such as a machinegun, a continuous laser, spread shot that pushes you back, homing missiles, etc), a body (high health but low agility, you take no ramming damage but have little health, drops bombs but slow health regen, etc) and an engine (heavy thrust but poor turning while thrusting, near anti-gravity, no damage entering the water, etc) and then you just fight nonstop waves of enemies trying to rack up as many points as possible. Each combination has its own nickname and each part has little achievements tied to it too.

The gameplay is pretty frantic, as the sky quickly becomes filled with enemies and bullets. Thankfully you can take a decent amount of punishment before dying (unless you're using the melee part) and you regenerate health whenever you're not shooting.

The variety you can get while building your Rauser is impressive, a few of the builds I liked was a Rauser equipped with a heavy, slow firing cannon, the melee body, and the water engine. I'd just dive bomb ships and fire the cannon just before I rammed the ship and plunged into the water, even the battleships can't take too many hits from that. Of course, if I timed it wrong I'd fly right into their gunfire and be blown apart (melee body can take 2 maybe 3 hits from full before dying). Another cool Rauser I had success with was the Beam Laser, Bomb Body, and "Original" balanced engine. I'd just zip around dodging enemies and bullets and slice ships and planes to ribbons.

You don't have to grind too much for the parts either, I think I've basically unlocked almost all the parts (except one special one for each section I think, the padlock symbol looks different than the one for the rest I unlocked) in only about 2 hours of play I'd say. One additional neat thing is that the music changes depending on your parts selection. Its the same basic theme every time, but different parts use different "instruments". The music is pretty good too, IMO, though it might become repetitive quickly for some.

Only managed to reach (what I assume) is the "Boss" A massive war zeppelin once. The game is quite difficult. I could see this being an actual arcade game from 15-20 years ago easily, though given how difficult it is, it better have had extra lives per credit. Either way it would've munched my quarters ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fast. This thing is fun.

TL:DR Luftrausers Owns. Awesome Arcade style game, great gameplay, cool music, buy it.
