NVIDIA really wanted people to use DLSS with this but it genuinely looks awful. the remade assets look amazing but everything else is kinda awful

game runs and looks fantastic. dualsense support is amazing (the adaptive triggers are soooo nice) and the ray tracing looks great! my only complaints are that they removed online text chat (why??) and you can't choose to auto load into story/online mode anymore, but overall i think this is a big improvement over the legacy edition

this game is so simultaneously incredible and horrible at the same time
you need mods to play this on modern hardware and have a good time

the perfect steam deck game

this game left me feeling really mixed? like on one hand, the story is interesting but it's also this games main weakness since they focused too hard on the story at the expense of gameplay. what made the original subnautica amazing was finding out everything on your own and exploring the huge map with so much to find and discover. below zero on the other hand feels really linear with you basically constantly being told where to go and what to do and the map is quite literally twice as small as the original (which also had the consequence of removing the cyclops because it would be too big for the map). it *almost* makes up for it in verticality because the map has a lot of caves to explore which are fun but it doesn't feel as magical as the original game did.

MAJOR STORY SPOILERS BELOW
the games story was overall pretty fun and enjoyable but the ending left me feeling unsatisfied. the original plot of the game was figuring out what happened to your sister and when you finally piece everything together and find the PDA from marguerit's base that tells you what happened, literally nothing happens. there's no big payoff and robin (the main character) has basically nothing to say about it? it just felt like "oh so that's what happened" and nothing else. it feels like the devs wanted the game to originally focus on that but then they were like "hey we should expand on the architect's lore" so they created al-an, whom i love but it really feels like he stole the spotlight

overall it's a really good game but it feels like it should've been DLC for the original game

truly the halo game of all time (it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good)
